This is a great looking and running 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 Thunderbolt Tribute car with a 302ci engine. This car starts, runs, drives and sounds absolutely fantastic. This Fairlane is 100% capable of being an everyday driver. I knew the previous owner because he performed restoration work for some friends over the years. His family's first car was a Fairlane and nearly forty years later, he restored this one and gave it to his wife. He's always had his own personal resto-mod in the works, which in the past included a Superbird, Tran-Am SD, Grand National, Olds 442 W30, and a Chevelle SS Clone that we sold for him two years ago right here on ebay for $47,600. Unfortunately his wife passed away in 2019, and he passed away this past January. This Fairlane has been driven less than 7,000 miles since its completion around ten years ago, and it has always been garaged ever since.

This Fairlane was a southern car in great shape when he acquired it. There wasn't any body rot or structural damage to deal with which made the restoration a lot easier. This is what I know about this car and its restoration:

The original paint was stripped to bare metal, and this car was totally refinished – outside, inside and underside. A steel Thunderbolt hood was installed with the correct steel hinges. Both of the chrome bumpers were stripped and re-chromed, and still look brand new. The grill and all exterior body trim was restored and looks fantastic. There are some hand painted graphic details on the body along with some similar glass etching. Two antenna pockets were recessed into the right quarter panel which allows the antennas to fully retract into the pockets. The red paint finish is shiny over the entire body with only some imperfections that aren't noticeable until you look closer. There isn't any body rust and the undercarriage is in terrific condition. A set of original Cragar wheels were installed with Goodyear Polyglas tires, which are still showing 90% of their tread. The chrome on the wheels is as bright and clean as it was ten years ago when they were installed.

A fully rebuilt 302ci engine with mild performance upgrades was installed. A rebuilt automatic transmission was installed as well. The suspension was fully serviced with all new joints, bushings, mounts and springs, etc. A true exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers was installed. This exhaust system is one piece fully welded pipes from the manifolds to the exhaust tips – it’s not clamped together.

The interior in this Fairlane was also fully addressed and is in fantastic condition. The carpeting and pads were all replaced. The front and rear seats were completely re-upholstered and recovered. The headliner near the top left corner of the rear widow is slightly gapped which I never noticed until now. There isn't any wear of damage on the seats or carpeting. The dash and all of the interior trim has been restored. A B&M shifter was installed along with a some instrument gauges. A Sony stereo system with matching speakers and amp were also installed. The trunk was refinished and custom trimmed, and there is a matching spare wheel and tire included.

You can spend 2-4 times more money for a similar Fairlane 500 of this vintage, but you'll be hard pressed to find a nicer Fairlane than this one. This car was restored to be a totally reliable and streetable daily driver. It fires right up the first time – every time, runs super strong, cruises beautifully, and sounds terrific without being obnoxious. Most importantly - it looks awesome, is fun to drive, and is ready to be driven home and put to use today.
