1967 Ford Fairlane 500 Two-Door Hardtop

This 1967 Ford Fairlane 500 stands out as a rare piece of automotive history, being one of only 11 produced that year with the W-code 427ci V8 engine. Even more remarkable, it’s believed to be the only one outfitted with the exclusive drag package.

The Fairlane underwent a significant refurbishment in the early 1990s, which included replacing the quarter panels, C-pillars, and trunk floor, as well as a repaint in its original Dark Moss Green. While it had previously been converted to a Pro Street racer with tubbed rear wheels, the restoration brought the car back to its period-correct appearance. Key exterior details include 427 fender badges, chrome bumpers, stacked quad headlights, and full-length stainless-steel body moldings.

The car sits on body-color 14" steel wheels with Ford-branded hubcaps, wrapped in Firestone Deluxe Champion bias-ply tires. Hydraulic 11" front disc brakes and 10" rear drums provide stopping power.

Inside, the cabin features black vinyl upholstery on both the front and rear bench seats, matching the dash pad and carpeting. As part of the drag package, sound-deadening material and the radio were removed for weight savings, giving the interior a no-nonsense race-ready feel. A two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph horizontal speedometer, with the odometer showing just 998 miles.

The heart of this Fairlane is its 427ci medium-riser V8, producing a factory-rated 410 horsepower. Equipped with a 710-cfm Holley carburetor, cast-iron exhaust manifolds, and a dual exhaust system, it delivers power to the rear wheels through the close-ratio four-speed manual transmission. Recent maintenance in 2023 included a carburetor rebuild and an oil change.
