For sale: 1977 Ford F150 Ranger XLT 4x4 Montana survivor, one family owned from 1977-2020. Sold new at Gateway Motors in Livingston(filming location of Rancho Deluxe) and never left the Rocky Mountains. These are the trucks of western lore, every young cowboy wanted a Ford 4x4 pickup! I purchased from the original owner's grandson, who inherited the truck in 2017. Truck was used as a summer recreational rig with a camper shell and a small fishing boat at nearby Glacier and Yellowstone national parks. Meticulously cared for, it's in good condition. Includes original manual, owner card, key, warranty papers, and Marti Report. Original jack and tools, spare doesn't appear to have ever been on the ground. Exterior: Mostly original Jade Glow paint that looks good from 20 feet. A few touch-ups along the way, most notably roof and inside of box. Straight truck overall with a few dings in front fender and roof. Truck had a camper shell all it's life and inside box is nice, even the wheel wells. Life long western truck that does have some rust where mud from dirt roads collected and held moisture. Nothing like the sitting-at-the-bottom-of-a-lake rot so often seen in the salt belt. THERE IS rust-through over passenger rear wheel and bottom of passenger side cab corner. Original owner put some fiberglass over wheel, I bought and will include a Goodmark patch panel for that spot. Also has a blister over driver side wheel and at lower rear corner of driver side box. See Flickr album link below for close up pics. Underside of truck looks great, cab mounts, floors, cab supports and cab drop offs all good, and of course we don't see frame rot here out west. SEE underside pics in Flickr album below. Windshield is the original CarLite glass and is nice with only a few small chips. I was quoted $1500 to fix the rust and spot paint/blend by a local body shop. Truck presents well and draws a crowd wherever you stop. Just an honest original truck to use as is or take to the next level, about as good a survivor as can be found these days without spending $20k or more.

Interior: All original and presentable. No rodents or smells. Lights, gauges, wipers, heater, radio, horn, parking brake etc all working. Windows roll up and down and doors lock with original keys. The CB works and the antenna is behind the seat. Seat has a few tears on driver side, dash pad has a few cracks. Original carpet is worn in spots. Needs headliner fabric replaced. Cowboy hat and hat saver included. Nice driver that's ready for trips to the Steak-N-Shake or Home Depot.

Mechanical: Starts, runs, and drives out well. Original 351 engine was replaced under warranty(factory recall) at some point and has no noticeable noises, smoke, or leaks. Don't have paperwork or exact mileage on replacement. Truck is factory equipped with the bulletproof C6 trans and NP205 gear driven T-case with factory hubs, not the cheesy chain driven NP203 full time system so commonly seen in this era. Hubs turn smoothly and 4wd works in high and low range. Recent $400 radiator, recent alternator, master cylinder and booster, water pump, etc. Well maintained along the way, whatever it needed it got. Could use new exhaust, there are some leaks. Tires have good tread but are older and should be replaced. Runs and drives fine as is, but keep in mind that it is an older rig, and will need maintenance along the way. If you live in a state with very strict vehicle inspections, they will probably find something for you to fix, so expect that. These trucks are noted for reliability and build quality, virtually a rolling anvil on wheels. Relatively simple to work on for the average shadetree mechanic. Good plow truck or lake/cabin rig you can leave up at the place.

Location/Shipping: Pickup will be in Helena, MT 59602, which is near the junction of Interstate 15 and Interstate 90. Transportation is at the expense and arrangement of the BUYER, but I will work with your transporter for loading, meet up, etc. Please research transportation options before purchasing. Once sold, I will cancel my insurance, so all liability for damages are the responsibility of the purchaser.

Payment:Winning bidder must contactme within 24 hours of auction end and make arrangements for payment at that time. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due immediately at auction end. The remainder is due within 3 days of auction end. If no contact is made within 24 hoursI reserve the right to re-list the vehicle, sell it to the next high bidder, or sell it otherwise. Payment by verifiable funds such as a WIRE TRANSFER or CASH in person before pick up, whichever is first.
