1966 Plymouth Barracuda

This auction ad is a bit long, but I thought it might answer a lot of the questions you may have before bidding.NO RESERVE!The highest bidder gets it. Period. The cold hard facts of life tell me that I will never get this car restored, so it's time to let it go and let someone else play with it. This is one that you can do your way, your color, your ride on your time without breaking the bank!It has a really nice straight body! As far as I know, it was always a Georgia car. Some light surface rust here and there, but no rot or holes. Spare tire well is solid. Bumpers are straight but need to be rechromed. The paint has faded over the years and does not have much shine. It has had a repaint a long time ago, and is a shade or two whiter than the original WW1 white. It's pretty thin in some spots. It looks like it was a pretty good paint job way back then, but is faded now. My initial intent was to lightly sand the exterior and then clear coat it for that 'patina' look. Never happened. All glass is good, and windows roll up and down okay. The front windshield is starting to fog around the edges. That big whopper rear glass is perfect. Nice grille. Nice original wheel covers (13"). All wheels are still the original 4" bolt pattern. Tires are old but look good.Four good driver quality rally wheels are included with the sale (see pictures). These are also the hard-to-find 4" small bolt pattern. The tires on the rallys are no good. Trim rings are nice. No center caps.Lights, wipers, brake lights, turn signals all work.Engine is 225 c.i. 'slant six'. It starts and runs, and can be driven around my house but is not really roadworthy. Engine holds 35 pounds of oil pressure at idle, and does not smoke. No leaks. I'm sure it could use a full tuneup and maybe a carb rebuild to be running top notch.Transmission is manual column shift. Clutch works fine and shifts okay. Brakes are fine. Radiator has been re-cored.Still has the original fender tag. The certicard is missing.Even though everything on the interior is all there, it will need almost everything replaced. Headliner is gone but I have the bows. I have all the door panels, trim etc. I removed the carpet (it was shot anyway) to look at all the floor pans. The floor pans are solid except for the passenger side rear, and it has some small holes (see pictures). To me it isn't bad enough to warrant replacing, but that's a decision you will have to make, depending on what you are going to do with the car. The front floor pans were painted with some kind of sealer before I got it, but I didn't find any rot on the underside. I painted the rear floor pans with POR 15 to stop any further rusting. The radio is an aftermarket one (doesn't work), but the dash was NOT CUT when they installed it.I have a few extra interior parts that will go with it.If you are interested in doing a 4-speed V-8 swap, the pedals are already there, so that's a plus. The battery shown in the pictures DOES NOT go with it. If you need one when you get here, it will be an extra $90 above the sale price of the car. It's just there to show it starts, runs and to drive it up on a trailer. I removed it from one of my other vehicles. The car has no warranty, expressed or implied. It is sold "as is, where is" and the buyer is responsible for transportation and pickup.Car is sold with a Georgia bill of sale, cash only. A $300 non-refundable deposit via PayPal is required. Balance is due when you pick it up. Car will not leave here until paid in full. The 1966 Georgia license plate goes with the car.I recommend thatyou personally come inspect the car or have someone else do it (by appointment).I have described the car to the best of my ability, but there may have been something that I left out, so donot hesitate to ask questions before you bid! I will give my cell number to anyone who is seriously interested in it. I am located in Fayetteville, Georgia about 20 miles south of Atlanta.

Here are some answers to a few of the questions I've had about the car:

  • The plywood trunk divider wasn't with it when I bought it, but it does have the hardware and latches. The divider really is an easy piece to make.
  • The extra rally wheels that go with it are 14", not 13".
  • The spare tire does go with the car.
  • The dash pad does have two cracks in it, which run along the two original indentations. I believe they can be repaired pretty easy without purchasing a new pad.
