Description:

1969 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series

The Banker's Hot Rod. 1969 Mercedes Benz 300SEL 6.3. Just out of very long term storage, the car recently received a thorough going over and major service.
This 6.3 has been in the same ownership for many, many years. The previous owner holed the oil pan, had the motor rebuilt on the original block then went on to cover an additional 60,000 miles before being purchased over 20 years ago by the current owner. Since then, the car has seen little action but has always been stored properly indoors.
When the decision was made to sell, the engine and fuel injection system were gone through and sorted out to make the car a good runner and driver. With new air bags, no leaks in the lines and arebuiltregulator the suspension holds air very well with no issues there. The brakes and steering are all in good shape and working properly. I would suggest new tires.
The body structure of the car is in very good shape with no rust issues whatsoever. There are some nicks and small scratches from years of storage, but absolutely no major repairs are needed. All the trim, bumpers and glass are present and in good, serviceable shape. The car has never been involved in a major, or minor for that matter, accident. All the sheet metal is undamaged and original.
The interior is in very good shape. All the wood is good, the dash remains un-cracked. It does have a sunroof which is inoperable. The rear seats are original to the car and well aged. There are some small nicks in a couple of the door panels. The front seats are newly reupholstered in leather. They were sent away from the car to be restored; the color is not exactly a perfect match unfortunately. The electric windows all work.
This is a good, solid 300SEL 6.3 that is very original, numbers matching and, most notably, VERY complete. It is still surprisingly fast chirping the tires going into second gear while cruising easily on the highway with modern traffic. It does have needs, though. It is an old car that has not been driven much at all in the past 20+ years, so it will need some time to make it right. The sunroof and A/C will need attention. It is not a restoration project by any means. It could be driven regularly and worked on while doing so. We are a vintage Mercedes parts dealer in the process of liquidating our inventory, so we do have many items for the car. An extra engine, transmission and complete rear axle assembly are also available.
