Description:

1946 Dodge Power Wagon

Developed from the Dodge WC 4WD trucks used in WWII, the Power Wagon was introduced for civilian use in 1946. Essentially the first civilian 4WD pickup, these "medium duty" trucks were serious vehicles perfect for farm, commercial, and municipality work. The power wagon name was used for many more years, but this style of the truck was produced with only minor updates from 1946-1968. Up until recently, this example was being used as intended at a lake house/ farm property for moving brush and trees, pulling the boats, trips to the lumber yard, hardware store etc. This is a very cool truck that looks awesome and is functional. It's in that ideal "in between" state where classic vehicles are the most fun - It's not a total mess but also not a restored super expensive example that you would be afraid to get dirty. A solid vehicle overall, the truck has most recently been in South Carolina and California. It has been "field" painted several times. Keeping it looking good only requires a warm sunny day and a paintbrush. The interior is basically stock with the exception of some aftermarket gauges and is reasonably clean. This is obviously not an all original truck as you can see just from the wheels. Other updates include power disc brakes, power steering, 12V electrics and a Dodge 360 V8 engine. It's still not an easy vehicle to drive, but it's a lot easier than it would have been stock. The owner has kept up with the basic maintenance and repairs over the last 11 years. The opening front windshield operation has been redone, the winch has been rebuilt, brake system renewed and more. It's not a perfect truck, but did not and does not have to be. The next owner can enjoy the truck as it is or change direction towards more updated or more original. The truck has a clean/clear SC title. It is exempt from inspection and odometer reporting here in NC due to the age. The odomoter has obviously gone around, but we don't know know how many times. We chose now to list if here now simply because there isn't a comparable onr currrrntly on here, only more restored, higher priced examples. More photos are available.
