RW Auto Classics is proud to unveil this 1960 Civilian Dodge Power Wagon for your viewing pleasure. She has striking patina backed by a strong presence that commands your attention and draws a crowd. There’s nothing like taking this beast down the street, people literally run out to wave and stop you at the gas station to talk about old stories of their own power wagons. So, drive it down the road, push down a tree or make it the show piece on the farm.
A brief bit of history on this Power Wagon…
Purchased by the last owner in 2008, and brought back to Garden Valley Idaho, this Dodge truck was driven lightly and stood as more of ornamental piece on the farm property. She was parked there for a few years and began to gather dust and needed to be brought back to life.
We found her at a barn workshop in Idaho and knew that we couldn’t say no to a solid excellent example of a 60s power wagon. After making our purchase we gave her a good cleaning. Back at the shop we fixed the headlights, brake and running lights. Cleaned the fuel tank, did spark plugs and wires, rebuilt the carb and added a battery. She fired right up with great oil pressure. The engine revs nicely and the old truck doesn’t overheat. Exhaust system needs a little work. We noticed the water pump was a bit leaky and bought a refurbished original. The running gear appears to be what we know to be original and many things worked right off the bat. The truck goes through the gears, engages into 4x4, and the PTO powers the winch in forward and reverse!
The body has a few dents and dings; it’s what you would expect out of a 50 year old farm truck. Nothing that can’t be repaired, but maybe leaving the truck the way it is, is the way to go, buyer’s choice. The most noteworthy of body issues would include: a couple dents on top of the cab, radiator cowl, side steps and tailgate. The bed is in nice shape the wood is still pretty solid, but shows sign of wear. There’s some surface rust around the truck, but no major cancer to report. The glass is all there, windows roll up and down, they have some bubbling from age and the front windshield has a couple cracks. The window cowl a common rust spot looks to be very solid.
As far as gauges, horns and heat. There is no heater box or horn, so this would be something that could be attended to right away. The gauges that work proper are the oil pressure and amp meter. The light for the gauges comes on sometimes too! Tires are fair, but are old. Doors shut and open most of the time. Windshield wipers are not currently working.
What makes this Power Wagon great is its uncanny ability to entertain the driver and all that see her in her glory. Solid steel and plenty of umph! Here’s your chance to own an unrefined, unrestored, real powerhouse of a truck. Please feel free to contact us at the shop (425) 556-0261 or my cell (425) 802-8682 to discuss the truck.
