1985 Volvo 760 Turbo Sedan- B230FT, AW71

Description:
1985 Volvo 740
Here are the relevant details:
- The Good:
- ~88k miles
- Previously a Colorado car before my ownership, it had sat for a long time in the owner’s garage and needed re-commissioning. That owner kept all the records for everything he ever did to the car for the previous 20 years.
- Starts, runs, turns, stops, doesn’t clunk over bumps, has working AC, the whole 9 yards.
- Overall incredibly clean- some scuffs/scratches as you’d expect for a car of this age but the original paint looks great. Interior is a similar story, it was very well taken care of its whole life.
- When recommissioning the car, the following parts were refreshed/replaced in my ownership:
- LH 2.2 car- Replaced entire engine wiring harness with upgraded loom from Dave Barton
- Do88 silicone intake hose (airbox to turbo)
- Forge 007 CBV
- Ignition system overhauled with Bosch parts and converted to 240 block-mount distributor. IPD seal retainer plate installed on the back of the head to suit.
- Turbo oil feed and drain lines have been upgraded to a Kinugawa stainless feed, and a push-lok drain to a Yoshifab fitting on the block
- Timing belt and tensioner replaced
- Exhaust manifold gaskets
- Kickdown cable replaced
- AW71 Accumulator Mod
- Replaced front turn signal/indicator lenses and housings
- Replaced power antenna
- Brake Master cylinder replaced
- Catch up on deferred maintenance (trans fluid, brake fluid, full synthetic oil changes)
- Removed and blocked off leaky vacuum pump
- The less good:
- Car has a few small oil leaks that haven’t been attended to yet- oil pan and at the back of the head between the cam cap and the head.
- Motor mounts are original, I have new ones to go with the car.
- Water pump seeping at the join to the head: I have a NIB Hepu water pump, gasket set, coolant hose set, thermostat, and a BEHR radiator to go with the car as well.
- Front passenger turn signal is intermittent- suspect some wire tracing will be necessary.
- Headliner is droopy
- Car runs rich when started cold in less than 50* F weather. Depending on how cold it is, the car may stall after you first accelerate and let off the gas. Letting the car idle for even a minute to get some heat into it resolves the issue. I had car smoke tested and the issue diagnosed as exhaust manifold gaskets, as it turns out the cheap ones I used before are blown already. I will include a set of multi-layer graphite gaskets with the car.
- Oxidation on the wheels around the pie plate center caps.
