1963 Triumph TR4 1962 TRIUMPH TR-4. 4-SPEED, DISC WHEELS. WELL-PRESERVED.
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very decent TR-4 convertible that was just purchased from the state of Maryland on the East Coast. The car blew a head gasket back in 1981 and was put into storage. The cylinder head was sent out and returned after a proper surfacing and rebuild, but never found it's way back on the car. Amazingly, the car stayed in storage from 1981 to present day, almost 40 years !The bodywork and paint on this car is quite decent overall. Panel fit is pretty good with nice opening and closing doors. Paintwork is glossy and white and overall looks real attractive from 5-10 feet, only with a few body flaws. Brightwork is good and appears to be the original pieces. The windshield glass has a crack and could use replacement. The car's interior trim looks pretty original overall. The seats have been amateurly recovered at one point. The panel kit looks to be the original and in great shape. Carpets have been refreshed and may be fine to use again. There's the remaining kit still in the trunk. The car's original top pad has a small single crack in it. The upgraded wooden dashboard facia and crash pads looks lovely, along with nice looking instruments. There is a decent black softop that would probably stretch back into shape and work fine on the car.The car's mechanicals need some easy attention. The car's correct, early sequenced engine turns fine by hand and bores/pistons look good. The cylinder head has been nicely rebuilt and surfaced, and is ready to be installed back on the car. We have loosely assembled the engine for visual /shipping purposes. Along with the head, I'm sure the car is due for a brake system re-do and fuel system cleanout. A fresh set of tires would be welcome, too. After that, you would have a very decent looking, running and driving car. There are some boxes of nice "old school" spare parts, carb and brake repair kits, extra chrome, jack, tools, black tonneau cover, etc. that go with the car.Overall, a desirable and early TR-4 in nice crisp colors that has been stored for the past 40 years. This car needs some easy mechanical work to return it to the road and is good value right now to secure one of these desirable 60's Italian designed sports cars. Please look at all pictures / video and call or email with any questions.
