1966 Triumph Spitfire 1966 TRIUMPH SPITFIRE MK2

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very well-preserved desirable early Spitfire in fantastic original colors. This car was just purchased from its caring seller from the Pacific Northwest. It’s an entirely solid, straight, and rust-free specimen that runs and drives very well, with nice cosmetics and great options. The bodywork on this car is very good with nice opening and closing panels. Panel fit appears per factory. Its current dark blue paintwork (Triumph code #56 – Royal Blue) is an older modest respray of its original color and presents very well from 10 feet, with plenty of life and use left in it to enjoy the looks of the car. Upon closer inspection, there’s evidence of some chips, scrapes, touch-ups and signs of general use over the years. The bodywork looks completely honest with no signs of accidents. Bright-work is all original and in very good general condition. The car still retains its original windshield, although the rubber gasket is showing signs of hardening. The car’s interior trim looks amazingly original (Triumph code #16 – Shadow Blue) still retaining its factory original vinyl seats that match the car’s original panel kit, also in great condition. There’s a small repairable crack in the center of the car’s original dashtop pad. A high quality, correct molded carpet set has just been installed and looks very nice. The car’s gauges appear to be operating correctly except the speedometer. It shows around 49,000 miles but we cannot verify when it stopped working… The car still retains its rare original bakelite steering wheel in great shape.Mechanically, the car is in very good shape. PLEASE SEE VIDEO. Its engine starts instantly on the key, revs hard and smooth. $2,800 has just been invested on a general engine overhaul, which entailed a cylinder head rebuild, honing the cylinder bores, and fitting new piston rings / upper end gaskets. The car’s gearbox and rear axle are very good. There’s some slight clutch judder only on takeoff, but seems to go away when the disc warms up. The car gets out on the road and really performs well, and feels confident in the corners on its rare period alloy “Turbine” wheel and tire set. It’s tons of fun and makes all the right noises. The car’s underside looks just about perfect. It’s completely rustfree and extremely well preserved. This car includes a nice-looking aftermarket factory hard top, jack and handle, spare tire with factory cover, decent black soft top and top frame, new interior door top covers, and a box of small parts.Overall, this is a desirable early Spitfire in a superb original color scheme, along with it’s useful white hard top and period alloy wheels. It’s a very well-preserved and honest car that drives fine, and is waiting to provide tons of fun to it’s next caretaker. Please look at all pictures / video and call or email with any questions. We will assist in shipping worldwide.
