Vehicle Details

Here is one of the most desirable cars from the 60’s. This fantastic 1965 GTO tri-power convertible, brings a fantastic blend of features never available from the factory. It looks incredible and has outstanding performance throughout.

When looking at this car, you must start with the body. It is solid and straight from front to back. The magnificent Electric Currant Red Pearl Metallic paint mimics the Burgundy color from 1965, but with far more luster and depth. All chrome and moldings are fantastic, as are all rubber pieces and seals. The power black top, note this is an original convertible and not a chop top.

The drivetrain on this car is a wonderful blend of equipment. In 1965, the best motor you could get was a 389ci block with the iconic tri-power setup (3 x 2bbl carburetors). In 1967, the displacement was increased to 400ci, but the tri-power setup was eliminated. This engine takes the best of both worlds, combining the larger 400ci block (0.030” over) with the awesome tri-power induction, along with a full ram-air setup also sports a Ram Air II camshaft and Ram Air cast headers. It also has the very desirable 6X-4 small chamber heads. The cooling system includes both a clutch fan and a variable temperature electric fan.

Now for the transmission. The only transmission available in 1965 was the 2-speed Power glide. That is a popular transmission, but not suitable for this car! It has been upgraded to a robust Hurst manual 4-speed.

Upgrades were also made in steering and braking. There is a newer power steering pump and close-ratio steering box. At 2.5 turns lock-to-lock, it gives a much more responsive feel than the old setup. The brakes are power with discs in front.

The black interior is beautiful. Seats, carpet, door panels, dash, console; everything is in perfect condition. All gauges and indicators work properly, including the in-dash tachometer. Aftermarket gauges have been discretely added below the dash to keep a closer watch on the newer motor. There is also a working AM/FM radio and 8-track player, along with a power antenna.

This GTO is truly a knock-out.
