1958 Plymouth Fury (clone)

I am selling my beloved and lifelong dream car 1958 Plymouth Fury clone. As many other guys, as soon as I saw the movie Christine back in the 1980's I knew I wanted one of these some day! But now that I finally found one, life has taken a turn, and I cannot keep it.

So, here's the description of the car, the best and most honest description I can give.

First things first, this car started out life as a Belvedere, but it has been made into a Fury clone and a Christine movie car look-alike. So it is not a number's matching car in any way, if that is what you are looking for, this is not a car for you. So it is NOT a matching numbers Fury, BUT, it is registered as a Fury on my title, as it was already like that when I got it. If this is not what you are looking for, stop here.

The car was restored a number of years ago by a well-known Christine guy named Mopar Mel. It was redone entirely at the time, frame off, and since it changed hands a couple of times in the last ten or 15 years, it was almost all redone again afterwards, including a tremendous amount of work under my ownership in the last year or so.

Result is a car that is in no way perfect, but is a very good driver, and still super nice to be presented at local car shows, which I did often, winning prizes along the way. Whenever I show it around, people are drawn to it like crazy and the car is always the star of the show.

The interior is beautifully done as a red and black Fury, with period correct looking patterns and fabric. The rare headliner is in great shape, 150-mile speedo, chrome cluster surround and mouldings, very nice shape throughout. The original radio was converted into a AM-FM-iPod input radio, but still works using the original knobs, buttons and dial, a fantastic feature.

Body and floors are in good straight shape, although the paint could need a polishing. There are a couple of flaws and scratches here and there in the paint, as you should expect with a car that's driven and has an older restoration.

There are a couple of pinholes in some corner areas of the underside, but the car is still very solid. Only non-original parts are the two small rear valance panels which are fiberglass repros, as steel ones are almost impossible to find in good shape. The glass ones needed a bit of work to fit correctly, and if I kept the car, I would continue to seek steel ones and do it over with correct panels, but it looks good for now.

Stainless trim all around the car has all been straightened and polished and look great. Aluminium inserts are brand new high quality repros with the correct movie pattern.

Chrome is in great shape throughout the car. The only part that show some pits is the base of the driver's side vent window pivot, but I am including a better one with the car. Haven't had time to change it.

The bumpers have the highly sought-after steel bumper wings in fantastic shape. They really make the look of the car, in my opinion!

Trunk features the correct original rubber mat and trunk liner panels.

Glass is all good with no cracks anywhere. Driver's door window has hazing in it a bit, so I am including a better clear glass with the car, if the buyer wants it.

Most aluminium trim parts are in very good original shape. Some were reanodised, but most are just nice originals.

Car is equipped with power steering, power brakes, windshield washer (no hoses presently but otherwise all there), backup light, dual rear antennas, deluxe rearview mirrors, padded sunvisors, padded dash, optional original floor mats, clock (not working).

The motor is a 383 cubic inch from 1968 with the desireable dual four-barrel carburators setup. This engine is coupled with a push-button three speed torqueflite transmission. Both were rebuilt during the restoration of the car years ago.

Ignition was converted to Mopar electronic ignition, and car is also converted to alternator.

Car runs and drives very good, and I have used it this summer without a glitch. Made a 400 mile trip with it two weeks ago, and the car ran like a champ.

Here's what was just changed, repaired or overhauled in the last few months:

-Exhaust

-Gas tank

-Fuel pump

-All six brake cylinders and front shoes

-Rear shocks

-Leaf springs

-Strut bushings

-Tie rod ends

-Ball joints

-Carburators were rebuilt

-Radiator was done

-Distributor

-Water pump

-Oil pan and gasket

-Crank cover gasket

-Valve cover gaskets

-Spark plugs and cables

-Side window weatherstrip and all "cat whiskers"

-...and more!

This car is located in Quebec City, Canada. I am selling it as is and where is. I will not deliver it anywhere, sorry.

Buyer is responsible entirely for picking it up here, having it shipped or driving it back to his or her place. I will help the best I can, but again, I will not do the shipping arrangements for you or deliver the car.

Buyer must pay the car in full before I transfer the title and let the car leave my property. Arrangements for payment must be discussed and agreed within 3 days of the end of the auction.

I have tried to describe the car the best I can and my pictures tell the rest of the story. I probably insisted on the flaws too much, but I prefer a buyer to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed.

I set my reserve price at a very reasonable amount, I believe, for this car. Grab your chance to own Christine!

If I forgot anything in the description or you would like to know more, or even come by here and see and drive the car, feel free to contact me, I will be happy to answer your questions.
