1958 Plymouth Belvedere 2 door Hardtop Christine
1958 Plymouth Other Belvedere
I am listing for Auction my 1958 Plymouth Belvedere 2 door hardtop. When I purchased this car last summer it had just been pulled out of a garage where it had been sitting since 1996. Not sure of the original color but was painted red and white ” Christine” colors years ago. The previous owner installed 4 new tires, cleaned fuel tank and did the brakes. I installed a new battery and the car is drivable as is. It starts, idles, drive, shifts and stops. I have driven it around the neighborhood. It has dual exhaust with worn out mufflers with no tail pipes. I think it sounds perfect.
When I went to the California DMV to register it, I found that the car was still on a valid Non-Op status so registering the car was no problem. I ordered and received New Black and Yellow California Personalized plates “CRSTEEN”. Car is currently registered and insured with a clean California title in my name.
I had the seats re-upholstered with a close to original pattern which I think came out great. I installed a new carpet kit over a 99% rust free floor pan. The small amount of scale I treated with rust converter and coated with rubberized undercoating. Had a new package tray made as well. Still needs kick panels. Steering wheel has cracks but looks OK after painting it. Door panels are original and in fair condition. Headliner is there but worn.
The body on this car is rust free with great patina. It has many of the desirable options like bumper wings and dual mirrors. There is some previous body work on driver side rear quarter panel poorly done. Car has 3 speed push button torque-flight and power steering and brakes. I liked the look of the “barn Find” so much that I am hesitant to even wash it(which I haven’t)
Trunk floor is very solid with just a couple smaller holes(see pic)
Engine is a 318 cu in (pretty sure) 2 bbl that is pretty original. Looks like the valve covers were chrome at one time.
I installed 2” port a wall, white walls on the new tires and am very happy with the look.
Glass is all good except for a cracked windshield, but I swear every time I drive it the crack gets a little smaller.
I have not driven the car more than short distances . The brakes work butt pull. The power steering has what I call excessive play. Trans shifts great, and blown out mufflers give it a great sound.
Headlights, brake lights, and turn signals work. Some gauges work, some don’t . The gas gauge does not.
I really like the “before “ Christine look from the movie.
I have a lot more picture, so email me if you would like to see specific areas.
I am now at the stage where the car needs to be taken to the next step with large investments in time and $$. Before I take it to the next level I wanted to see if there is anyone out there that loves this car more than I do. I paid what I thought was too much $$ when I bought it but have come to realize that 1958 2 door Plymouths are kind of hard to find. I have set a (what I think) is a pretty high reserve because it will take a lot for me to part with it and I am sure I will still kick myself if it sells.
If you are SERIOUS, Do not hesitate to email or call to ask questions. I prefer to talk on the phone, but whatever works. My cell number is 559-479-1636. Car is located in Clovis CA. zip code 93611 (near Fresno).
Car is sold AS-IS Where-Is
I require a $1000 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit, and balance (wire transfer preferred) to be paid within 7 days .
