I had originally purchased this car in Washington state in the mid 2000's but a move forced its sale. It's a very solid survivor car that has been in the hands of dedicated Peugeot enthusiasts most of its life. A few years it returned to my garage but with limited time to enjoy my cars, I've decided it's best to let this old Pug to find a new home.Body: Very straight and clean original western states car. No evidence of body damage or filler anywhere. The car was repainted by the previous owner and the color match is dead on, but the quality of the prep and application isn't the best. It's a (10-footer) but presentable. I have photos of the car from the mid 2000's when I owned it the fist time showing the original paint and body condition. It's an improvement and I get compliments almost every time I'm out and about. The rear tail gate latch area on the lift gate will need some attention. It has some rust where the mechanism bolts to the hatch.
Interior: Bone stock original other than the radio and an auxiliary gage mounted in the center console. Front seats are torn under the seat covers, everything else can be seen in the photos.
Mechanicals: Many moons ago this car received an XD2S engine from a Peugeot 505. It's Having owned many 504's ( 3 currently) it's a nice upgrade. Quite a bit of work and $$ have gone into keeping this car a reliable driver. Everything is super tight and tidy, but it does need the front brakes and a rotor either turned or replaced on the driver's side before I'd consider any long hauls. The most recent repairs are listed below, and the paperwork will accompany the car, along with a factory parts manual set and workshop manual. This is a non AC car.
Work performed in the last 10K miles or less.
- Service rear axle replaced bearings/seals/retainers/fluid.
- Rear brake shoes and rebuilt wheel cylinders.
- Rebuilt steering rack with inner and outer tire rods.
- Front Struts
- Cylinder head rebuild with all new valves and guides.
- All new top end gaskets and head bolts
- New oil pressure switch and turbo oil feed pipe.
- Rodded out the radiator.
- Oil pan gasket/Front crank seal.
- New front struts.
- Front alignment.
- Repair electric fan clutch.
- Replaced failed odometer. * Note used unit was installed reading 86,159. The original unit read 191,9210 at the time of failure.
- Rebuilt diesel injection pump.
- Powder coated alloy wheels.
- 4 new tires.
- New fuel filter assembly with primer.
Keep in mind this is a 42-year-old French car. If you don't have the passion, drive, financial means, or mechanical aptitude to keep this old wagon going, please move along and buy something else. These cars are coveted around the world but seriously unappreciated here in the USA. I'm hopeful to find another custodian who will enjoy it as much as the rest of us have.
