Purchased new on September 18, 1979 by O. Wayne Rollins (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O._Wayne_Rollins) through one of his companies, Mountain Cove Farms (http://www.mountaincoveresort.com/?page_id=64).
Mr. Rollins was a very successful businessman and is credited with one of the first leveraged buyouts when he acquired Orkin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orkin), the pest control company, now the largest of its kind in the world.
The Wagoneer was used on the farm by Mr. Rollins for about three years, accumulating a little over 5, 000 documented miles, and then brought to Orkin’s headquarters in Atlanta where it remained through 2022 in an underground, climate-controlled environment.
Service records show regular maintenance and occasional mileage increases in small increments over the years.
Routine repairs included replacing the air conditioning compressor, radiator, and tires.
The Wagoneer changed hands when Mr. Rollins passed, to his wife, Grace Crum Rollins.
When Mrs. Rollins passed in 2008, her son, R. Randall Rollins (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randall_Rollins) acquired the vehicle and drove it sparingly. He maintained the car until his passing in 2020. Margaret (Peggy) Hastings Rollins, held title until 2022.
The car shows just 7,938 original miles and wears its original Morocco Buff (paint code 9N – cream color) paint and original woodgrain vinyl siding. An amazing, original time capsule.
A notarized letter from Mr. Timothy C. Rollins, grandson of O. Wayne Rollins, documents both the family history and mileage of the vehicle.
The Wagoneer still sports the initials OWR on both driver and passenger doors.
The vehicle received a Ziebart treatment when new which helped it remain rust-free its entire life.
