1972 Datsun Z-Series

I’m selling a non-running 1972 Datsun 240z, with a clear transferable registration in my name. In New York, vehicles older than 1974 are issued a transferable registration instead of a title, as proof of ownership. It is the same as a title. I purchased this car from the original owner. He states that he drove the car regularly until 1977 when the car failed inspection for headlight adjustment (due to rust). He drove it home, and parked it in his garage until I pulled it out approx 2 months ago. The car has extensive rust, as you can see in the photos. There’s no hiding it so I’m going to be as straight forward as I can. It appears that it will need new frame rails, fenders, quarters, doglegs, etc. The rust hasn’t gone through into the car except for a few spots. I poured a few ounces of marvel mystery oil in each cylinder and waited about a week before trying to see if the crank would move. It didn’t move much so I left it alone. The transmission shifts through all gears nicely. I connected a good battery to it and checked the electrical system. This is what worked: drivers headlight, all marker lights, taillights, one of the signal lights came on steady, choke light, brake light, defrost light, seatbelt light (and buzzer) and radio. I may have missed something. The interior is where this car shines. Since it’s been sitting inside a garage for the past 46 years, the interior remained excellent. The dash is free of any imperfections. The console has no cracks or holes and the ashtray still has its original silver color. The radio works like new (the antenna is broken). The drivers seat has a hole on the left where the seatbelt wore through and a few small cracks. The passenger seat is very nice. The passenger carpet and rear carpet are both like new. The steering wheel has just a small amount of rust on the spokes but the horn pad is nice. It didn’t have a key so I replaced the ignition switch with another one I had. The seatbelt shoulder harnesses are hanging in their original plastic bags, unused (see photos). The tools, jack and chocks are missing. It even has a ski rack on it which he used quite a bit. Three of the tires hold air (they were made in Ireland - I had no idea they made tires over there) and I will try and get the 4th to hold air. The right rear wheel is stuck. I will try and free it up..The fuel tank straps rusted so I used some metal strapping to hold it up. I will be keeping the license plates. I might assist with shipping but it is completely your responsibility.
I have more pictures as well as videos for the car. Message me for more info. Thanks for checking it out…
