I'm the second owner of a 1979 A-series (transitional) Commuta-car. Plug in, fully electric vehicle. 48v drive system - 12v accessory battery for lighting.
New paint when I bought it 2 yrs. ago (dark blue), original interior (black - near perfect), new michelin tires and tubes, blasted and painted rims, sun-roof, new batteries, new alltrax speed controller, AM/FM/CD, sunroof, vinyl top, new brakes, all new battery cables. new fabricated side slider windows (originals will go with the car - but are checked...they are in the pictures shown) Ready to enjoy.
On board Charging works great. 38 mph indicated -35 mph per gps on flat ground w full charge. Downhill slight grades? 40+, but.....do you really want to go that speed in one of these???? Charger was rebuilt. 1 plug, charges driver batteries and 12v accessory battery.
All electrical upgrade were done by Glen at EV Performance in Alabama.
Worst part? peeling foam bumpers! currently removed from the car, but car will be sold with the original bumpers.
I have ~ $6K in this. Clean NJ title in my name. Registered and Insured. Yes...the car is dark blue. sunlight playing tricks on the painted hood.
No flat panel cracks. there are some small cracks on the A-pillars that have been repaired and reinforced from the inside with fiberglass cloth. The repairs will need touch-up paint. One of those little auto parts places selling brush in cap bottles will do nicely.
