1966 Mercury S-55 428/345HP SUPER MARAUDER V8 CONVERTIBLE

West Coast Classics are proud to present a mostly all original surviving example of this very rare and limited H.O.R. production 1966 Mercury S-55 2 Door Convertible in it's original 'White' color paint (Color Code M) with it's original and very striking matching 'White' color (Trim code M6) interior and original factory specifications and desirable factory options including; C6 Dual Range 3 Speed Automatic Transmission, 2.80:1 ratio axle, Heater & Defroster, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power convertible top, Tinted Glass, Dual Exhaust, & distinct and unique S55 sport options of Bucket seats, front console, full carpeting, electric clock, bright exterior trim, deluxe wheel covers & WW tires and it's original 'Q' code 428 c.i. / 345 bhp 4BBL V8 'Super Marauder" engine! 1 of only 669 of these legendary S-55 convertible models built in 1966!
The sporty S-55 was an extremely low production top-of-the-line and limited two year only full size model for Mercury with only 669 built in 1966 & 145 in 1967and this particular example is a very rare DSO 84 "Home Office Reserve" built car. This means that the order originated in the Dearborn Ford Motor Company corporate headquarters. These cars were either for executives as their personal company car or went into the executive motor pool. The cars were usually offered to the dealers as "program cars"!
This particular example 'Triple White' example has it's original factory correct 'White' color paint with one recent bare metal professional repaint and with a very nice original matching all 'White' color bucket seats interior with a matching 'White' color power soft top. The floor boards, trunk and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and rust-free and the car has no signs of any accidents - obviously a mostly garaged example with all the options including the power soft top working as they should.
Mercury's revived big full size performance car of 1966 returned after a two year absence and featured 'Torque Box' construction, i.e. frames individually tuned to minimize noise and harshness. A standard big block Ford 'Q' code 428 engine was matched to a heavy duty chassis with a sporty bucket seats interior. A rare and very desirable high performance rag top car with few such remaining.
This is a rare opportunity to own a great rare great daily driving and turn key ready example of a very well preserved and low production 1966 Mercury S-55 428 'Q' code Convertible!
