1959 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series

You are looking at the very unique and original rust-free California limited production 1959 Mercedes 220 SE ponton sedan

The 220SE featured a unitized body/frame construction and fully independent suspension. All models were fitted with Mercedes' M127 2.2L (2195 cc) straight 6 gasoline engine with aluminum head, overhead camshaft, and Bosch mechanical fuel injection. An automatic clutch was available with the column-mounted 4-speed manual transmission. The production of 220 Se sedan ponton was only 1974 units for 2 years (1958 and 1959) which makes this car very limited and rare.

I owned this car for over 8 years and purchased it from the original owner—a US Armey pilot. I enjoyed driving the car for some years and I had plans to restore it with a new paint job and a complete new interior to keep it in my collection but now circumstances within my life have rendered me unable to do so. I hate to see this car go.

The body is solid, rust free and had some paint work and defect on paint. It needs a new paint job, but the paint still is presentable and has shine. The interior seats woods’ are original and they are in good condition (please check the photos). The carpet has been recently changed. The head liner is in good condition.

Recently the vehicle has been serviced with oil change and tune-up. The glasses are in perfect condition. All moldings are intact. The car starts right away and runs very nice, smooth and strong. Tires are weak due to them being old. No smoke or any leaks. Good brakes. This car has A/C and was working a long time ago but now needs to be serviced.
