Description:

1959 Mercedes-Benz 220SE

I’ve owned this 1959 220SE Ponton for over 15 years, has been in California long enough to sport a blue California license plate, and I’ve loved every minute with it.According to my friends at the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Long Beach California from whom I buy parts from, fewer less than 1,800 of these 220SE Ponton sedans were built between 1958 and 1959, with most of the SE production eventually focusing on coupes and convertibles through 1961/1962. Of those sedans, they estimated only 120–150 included the Webasto sunroof, making this car incredibly rare. I’ve been trying to for another one like it, both in the US and European markets, and haven’t come across any SE with Webasto roof in the past 15 years.Originally, this car was black (paint code 40) you can verify in the evidence plate code provided in the photo gallery, but I decided painted on a black and silver satin or matte scheme to suit my personal taste—satin/flat black is popular these days, though not strictly period-correct. The interior is also not original; I had planned on redoing it, but it is nice and presentable at this time . Fortunately, replacement interiors, rubber windows seals, and others are relatively easy to source (in reasonably priced) online—for example, eBay often has these parts. Please note that this is not a concours restoration—it’s a wonderful driver that needs some love and attention. So, there’s a great opportunity for the next owner to take it to the next level if desired. been in California no rust. Please ask me for any question .VIDEOS:https://youtu.be/WSFIAeXbBmQ?si=3pcKugT1baDDbCQ0*****************************https://youtu.be/g9Cl2Lklh9s?si=KipZX_9EwfQmNyvD******************************https://youtu.be/-AIfIubJoC8?si=z8myQKs2Jfj4AQKT******************************https://youtu.be/46Nv5TffZ7A?si=ErgZfNkoAB8xcnoC
