1966 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic

This is Doris, and charming and entertaining are two words that describe this 1966 VW Beetle, and she has a great rack. She's powered by a 1776 cc engine with power running through a Highway Flyer four-speed. The engine runs very well and makes great power for what it is. Backed up by the four speed with tall gearing she is quite happy at 60 mph with plenty of speed left to go. The transmission shifts beautifully. The brakes, even though still drum, are strong and linear. Steering is sharp. The previous owner took numerous day trips in the car. Some of these are memorialized in stickers on the quarter glass. The paint is good enough for a driver. Still plenty of shine but also a few scratches, nips and chips. The floors were properly replaced at some point in the past. There is some filler in the doors and quarters, but all in all a solid old Bug. There is no rust in the nose, but you can see repairs of previous damage. The seats and door panels are in very good condition. Carpet is good. Headliner has been replaced by a bamboo mat. CD player in the glove box. The luggage rack on the back deserves its own paragraph. Previous owner is a welder and fabricator. He designed and built this rack. Workmanship is exceptional. It is a one-piece welded construction capable of holding up quite a bit of weight. I saw a picture of this car carrying a washing machine on the rack! If you have enough ratchet straps it could double as third row seating. If you are looking for an all original, show quality Beetle this is not your car, but if you are looking for something fun with loads of personality and that runs circles around a stock Beetle you should take a look at Doris.
