Description:
1972 GMC Jimmy CST
Up for sale I have this 1972 GMC Jimmy CST 4x4. This jimmy was owned and maintained by a guy from 1993 up until I bought it. He took very good care of it and always keep up on everything it needed. You don't run into very many of these that are in as good of shape as this one unrestored. I'll do my best here to describe this Jimmy in detail so bare with me.First off, just to save some time for certain potential buyers, this is an unrestored original truck. It has been kept up with NOS original GM parts and excellent original parts. It has absolutely zero Taiwan LMC junk on it anywhere. That being said, certain parts and pieces may not be shiny enough for some. The body is in very good condition. It has never had any rust repair done anywhere to it. As you can see in the pictures, the floors are all original and have no rust through or any previous repair work done anywhere. Just some light surface rust on the drivers side area where the paint has wore off. One amazing thing about this one, it still wears it's original outer rocker panels and they are not rusted through either. All original spot welds are in tact. The rocker boxes are pristine, windshield frame, cowl, firewall, all rust free, doors, fenders, all the usual places are good. The only rust on the truck I have seen is on the drivers side in front of the rear wheel in the notorious "hidden pocket". When looking in though the wheel opening area, there is no rust visible in there, all 100% Solid. Just that little spot rite behind the rocker panel has came through. Thats it, pretty amazing for 47 years old, and a K5 to boot. The Jimmy was originally copper in color. It had one repaint sometime prior to 1993. The good news is, none of the jams, firewall, interior, etc was repainted. just a simple exterior respray in a cranberry color. Where the paint has chipped and wore, the original copper is still present underneath and even looks shiny still. The current paint looks good and still is shiny. After I purchased the Jimmy, I completely removed the entire interior, cleaned everything top to bottom, lubed window regulators etc, then reassembled everything using all original hardeware. The carpet was removed years ago and replaced with front and rear NOS gm rubber mats, all leveling mats front and rear are still intact and in place. The original seats and seatbelts are all in great shape. Again not brand new, as this is an unrestored truck. The console is perfect, no repairs or breaks anywhere. The Jimmy is equipped with factory AC that works! Driving around town it doesn't seem very cold, you have to get the rpm's up higher. It's probably low on freon. The original AM radio works perfect and plays through the original speaker under the dash. It has a tilt wheel, and a factory tach and vacuum dash. Again all original GM parts. No Chinese crap here. Everything works, all gauges, lights turn signals, cancelers, etc etc. It has a custom built 40 gallon fuel tank in the stock location. The fuel gauge is accurate. Also has a nice receiver hitch back there. The engine is a standard bore standard bearing 1972 402.It was rebuilt years ago and performs flawlessly. No smoke whatsoever, no leaks, no funny noises, no bullshit. I know it's hard to get a real good idea of what you are looking at off of a few pictures. The previous owner was a very smart detail oriented guy. Usually when I buy an old vehicle I end up spending weeks or months fixing cobbled up repairs. Not on this one. Anyway, it has a Qjet that runs awesome, no issues, I did add a stock air cleaner. I had it powder coated satin black. Also has a new big 4 core radiator. TH350 and NP205 Tcase all works flawlessly. Zero issues. Disk brake front end, power steering all work great. It goes down the road 70 miles per hour straight, stops straight, no vibrations or issues. Another impressive thing with this Jimmy is how tight it is. Going over railroad tracks and potholes, its not a rattle trap. Which is rare. Even on nice restored trucks. The previous owner never removed the top nor have I. And it wasn't removed when the truck was painted. The top is in excellent shape as well, no issues, all complete. The hatch is mint, no repairs, no cracks, nothing. Oh yeah, and no Krylon paint jobs under the hood, on the top, or anywhere else. The inside of the tailgate is 99% perfect. The rally's are later 70's with nice trim rings. Tires are BFG all terrains with probably 70% remaining. The tire carrier is all solid and opens and closes perfect. No body damage caused by it either. 4x4 works as it should, original blue dial hubs work great. The bumpers are originals and are straight and clean. The truck sounds great, has turbo mufflers, always fires rite up, and the big block runs like a big block!! The odometer shows 44,250 which might go up very slightly. It's stored in my shop but gets moved in and out from time to time and on short trips around town. Really the only thing I would say that it needs is a new windshield. It has good sized crack in it. And obviously a paint job if so desired.I could go on and on and I know i'm leaving out a lot of details that i'll think of later. Anything else big i'll add to the description during the auction. The original warranty card, protect O plate, and other pamphlets are still with the Jimmy as well. Please don't bid on this auction if you don't fully intend to own this truck. If you have less than 5 feedbacks please get ahold of me BEFORE you bid. I have owned over 60 of these first generation K5's so I know a little bit about them. This is clearly one of the better ones left out there thats still affordable. I'm listing this to sell, not sit here for months with a big ridiculous price on it. If your interested, make an offer, almost all of the vehicles I've ever sold on eBay sell before the auction ends. Buyer is responsible for any and all shipping costs. I'm happy to work with and recommend shippers. I've done it many times. No warranties. Any questions feel free to ask, I can take as many pictures as you'd like and send them. Clean clear title in hand ready to go. This is a good straight turnkey truck. Hang your license plates on it and go have fun.On Jul-12-18 at 18:41:23 PDT, seller added the following information:
A few other things I thought to mention. The headlights work on high and low beam, brake lights work, turn signals work, windshield wipers work on both speeds, as well as the squirters. Tach and vacuum gauge work, speedometer works, cigarette lighter works, the lights under the dash come on when you open a door. There is one key that runs both doors, ignition and hatch. The doors open and close beautifully, the hatch closes tight and doesn't rattle. The steering wheel is nice and is original. It has one small crack. The dash pad is original and clean as well as the sun visors. Door panels are all good with no extra screw holes. There are no dents in the truck.
