1951 Ford Custom Deluxe 2-Door Sedan
1951 Ford Deluxe Deluxe 2-Door Sedan
Up for sale is a 1951 Ford Custom Deluxe 2-door sedan. This car is titled and runs and drives. It needs a 6V battery since the car is a 6V system. Car belonged to my father-in-law and he passed a few years ago. So, the mother-in-law says it's time to sell it. It has been garaged for close to ten years or so and, for as long as the FIL owned it, the car has always been covered under a car cover inside the garage. Before that, the car was in a dry storage and outside arid West Texas climate. My FIL bought it from a recovery yard and he brought it up to the condition you see it today; it has a legal title and the title was acquired with an insurance bond as it was untitled before he began to work on the car. It was last registered in our great state in 2019. It has a lot of new chrome and the drivetrain is entirely all original. The upholstery is recent and not factory, but comfortable and utilitarian. It shows pretty well and is a good example of a mid-century family sedan. The colors are clearly not original to the car, but the car is complete from bumper to bumper. The in-laws drove it around the neighborhood a few times and it went back in the garage. It needs to be freshened up with new gas (recommended) and new tires. Tires hold air for months and months, but are dry-cracked and need to be replaced. Glass is all good, but a recent inspection revealed a new crack in the driver side window. Doors open and close adequately. Trunk is cracked open in the pictures but the trunk closes and shuts perfectly; the MIL hasn't been unable to find the trunk and ignition keys, but they're around somewhere.
I was around when he started work on it and I can attest to the fact that the car has no major rot. The doors do have some fillers on both sides. The paint is OK and thin in some areas. The car is located in West Texas (El Paso County). Car is completely moveable; it starts and runs and rolls. I would NOT drive this home at all, however (tires). It can easily be trailered and is small enough to fit on a smaller car hauler. Car-hauler delivery to your door in and around the El Paso, TX area (± a couple hundred miles) is po$$ible.
This car needs to go to a good home. It is the wish of my MIL that this car go to a good place and the price is thusly entirely negotiable. These cars make good hot rods, cruisers, and/or lead sleds. The odometer shows 29K-and-change miles, but this is most likely 129K-and-change? I have no way of knowing if this turned over or not. I do know that the car sat for decades in the auto recovery place before the FIL got it, so maybe it is 29K miles (who knows). Feel free to make an offer; all offers will be considered and she will have the final say-so on price. Inspections are possible and mechanics are OK to view the car provided prior arrangements are made with the MIL. MIL is needing the space in the garage and the car needs to go. This is a great deal for Ford lovers (God help your souls). Go Chevy!
