1968 Ford Mustang 5.8L EFI 5-Speed project car with Dakota digital dashboard
1968 Ford Mustang
My loss is your gain on this customized 1968 Mustang Coupe. This is not your Classic "Classic" Mustang. Why have a Concours correct Mustang when you can have a one of a kind retro stang designed and built how you want it? This car will turn heads once complete.
Why am I selling my project car? I was laid off from my employer in August and found a job 650 miles away so the car has to go to help me get caught up on bills as well as helping the relocation of my family.
History of the car as I know it. Car was restored in the 1990's. It had a 302. The car was originally Turquoise and during this restoration was converted from a manual to an automatic. I got the car around 2005. While driving it around I notice electrical issues. When I started looking into things I saw that the fuse box had been completely removed. So I decided that was not safe and I would rewire the whole car. That is when I heard about T5 5-speed conversions and also EFI conversion. My first car was a 66 Mustang and I had so much trouble with that car with points and the carb and didn't want to deal with it on this car. So I started the conversion. Well as with most people life got in the way of my restoration and the car set. I have worked on it a little at a time. Below is what I have and what still needs to be done.
The car has the following items:
- •302 motor replaced with a 1989 Bronco II 351 5.8L engine
- •1990 T5 5-speed transmission out of 5.0 mustang
- •New flywheel, Clutch and throw out bearing
- •Scott Drake T5 conversion kit $350 newhttp://www.drakeautomotivegroup.com/Store/Product/T5-67-KIT.aspx?wid=141

- •Scott Drake EFI wiring harness $750 newhttp://www.drakeautomotivegroup.com/Store/Product/C5ZZ-14289-EFI.aspx?wid=141

- •New 130 Amp 3G alternator (like what goes on a 93 Mustang)
- •Headliner is in good shape but I have a new one in box with a new dome light
- •New fuel pump with sending unit (this was around $400 CJ Pony parts I think)
- •Dash pad is in good shape
- •Dash board panels are new
- •Carpet is new
- •Door panels are new and still in box

Still on the to do list that I did not get to:

- Rebuild motor (up to you. Motor runs but I wanted a fresh start)
- Body work and paint job
- Look at window system (they are hard to roll up and down) was thing electric windows)
- In the engine bay I have installed two support arms. (The one on the driver's side needs redone and moved so it can be lowered) this will allow hood to sit flat)
- I also was going to make all of the wiring neater looking.
- Possibly replace floor pans (up to you)
