Description:

1968 Ford Mustang

Why am I selling my project car? I was laid off from my employer in August 2017 and found a job 650 miles away and have been in Florida since. The car has been sitting untouched at my house in Salisbury NC and I am needing to sale it. You will be picking the car up in Salisbury,NC zip code 28147. It has been over a year since the last time I started the car so it may or may not crank at this point. It is a project car and I feel I have it priced to sell.

History of the car as I know it. Car was restored at some point in the 80's or 90's. It had a 302. The car was originally Turquoise and during this restoration was converted from a manual to an automatic and painted red. I got the car around 2005. While driving it around I notice electrical issues. When I started looking into things I saw that the fuse box had been completely removed. So I decided that was not safe and I would rewire the whole car. That is when I heard about T5 5-speed conversions and also EFI conversion. As the car was not concourse correct I decided to make how I wanted, so I started the conversion. Well as with most people life got in the way of my restoration and the car set. I have worked on it a little at a time. Below is what I have and what still needs to be done.

The car has the following items:

  • ·302 motor replaced with a 1989 Bronco 351 5.8L engine
  • ·1990 T5 5-speed transmission out of 5.0 mustang
  • ·New flywheel, Clutch and throw out bearing
  • ·Scott Drake T5 conversion kit $350 newhttp://www.drakeautomotivegroup.com/Store/Product/T5-67-KIT.aspx?wid=141
  • ·1990 Mustang Computer (there is also a spare 1988 GT computer)
  • ·Scott Drake EFI wiring harness $750 newhttp://www.drakeautomotivegroup.com/Store/Product/C5ZZ-14289-EFI.aspx?wid=141
  • ·EZ2Wire complete car wiring kit $200 new
  • ·New electric cooling fan from CJ pony parts installed (couple hundred dollars)
  • ·New radiator
  • ·New high torque mini starter
  • ·March performance overdrive pullies
  • ·Dakota Digital Dashboard $800 newhttp://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=804/category_id=434/mode=prod/prd804.htm
  • ·New 130 Amp 3G alternator (like what goes on a 93 Mustang)
  • ·Headliner is in good shape but I have a new one in box with a new dome light
  • ·New fuel pump with sending unit (this was around $400 CJ Pony parts I think)
  • ·Dash pad is in good shape
  • ·Dash board panels are new
  • ·Carpet is new
  • ·Door panels are new and still in box
  • ·New seat belts
  • ·I have installed a cheap hydraulic clutch. (system needs bled and linkage at clutch fork needs adjustment) I would look at replacing with a better kit
  • ·Long tube headman headers with O2 sensors
  • ·New heater core (heater currently bypassed)
  • ·Halogen headlights
  • ·Cold air intake still in the box (install if you want)
  • ·Battery relocated to the trunk (battery needs replaced)
  • ·New antenna in package
  • ·New front lip spoiler
  • New hood latch

Still on the to do list that I did not get to:

  • work on hydraulic clutch system
  • work on brakes
  • Heater is bypassed this was going to be hooked up when motor pulled for rebuild
  • Rebuild motor (up to you. Motor runs but I wanted a fresh start)
  • Body work and paint job
  • Look at window system (they are hard to roll up and down) was thinking electric window upgrade)
  • In the engine bay I have installed two support arms. (The one on the driver's side needs redone and moved so it can be lowered) this will allow hood to sit flat)
  • I also was going to make all of the wiring neater looking.
  • Possibly replace floor pans (up to you)
  • Replace wheels and tires
  • Secure battery in trunk and add shutoff switch. Inertia switch for fuel pump has been installed
  • Battery is completelydead and needs replaced.
  • exhaust system replacement from headers on back.
