Description:
1969 Dodge Other
1969 Dodge B400 stepvan milk truckThis is a real cool old refrigerator van/truck. It was converted by a coach company when it was new. The van runs nice and has $6k in newer parts/labor including all new tires. No rust, no bondo. No dents really to speak of. I have many more pics I can send. Only 24 fit on here. Classic truck that could be used for advertising, beer, microbrewery, icecream, vending, etc etc. Here are all the details. If your interested in doing something early on it, feel free to email me. Thanks.
MECHANICAL
This dodge has the 318 V8 with 4-speed manual transmission. This has power-steering but non-power brakes. These are easy to convert to power brakes though. New radial tires, new brakes, new fluids, new tuneup, fuel system cleaned, lights fixed, gauges all work. New wiper motor. New hoses, belts, fuel filter, fuel pump, axle seals, carb rebuild. Bearings packed. Other stuff too. $6000 in work a couple years ago and then it's been in a heated shop. Engine runs nice. No smoke, ticks or knocks. Great oil pressure. Runs cool. Heater, wipers, lights, etc. work. Transmission and clutch work perfect. This is not a freeway type rig although it will drive on the freeway lol. It could be converted to an automatic transmission very easily if a person wanted. I don't mind the manual, but I grew up driving old 4-speeds. I would just double check everything before driving very far because it has been sitting for awhile. It's cold blooded which is common for old rigs like this but it warms up pretty fast. Just a note, this did have tons of new parts put on but it's been sitting inside for a couple years. So, the parts are new, but not new.
BODY
This truck has a nice body for an unrestored 1969 model. No rust. No dents. No filler of any concern. I have checked it with a paint thickness meter. It was painted at some point and could use paint again but the cherries are cool, kind of. I am not sure, but this rig was probably owned by a cherry farm on Flathead lake. The frame, floors, doors, roof, van body, fenders, hood, inner fenders etc etc are rust free. This truck is very dry. The doors all open and close properly. It would be easy to add a polished aluminum grilled and Chrome front bumper to this. They are readily available, as are many body and mechanical parts.
REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
I have not tried the system. I don't know how to operate these. It looks to be a propane or electric system. Two large cooling "sinks" in the cooler van. All propane system looks fine but there is no tank. It has a spot for a tank behind the passenger seat. It has a 220v electric refrigeration pump/compressor that look fine. There is one switch that says milk, for one side, and the other switch says icecream. It is all professionally installed stuff, I just don't know how to operate it. From looking at it, I would guess it probably all works. It has a couple different thermostats and temperature gauge. I can't say for sure if it will work, or needs work.
Thanks for looking and feel free to ask questions. Sold as-is.
