1963 Dodge Postal Van Rv. Automatic transmission! runs nice!
This is an old step van, also called multi-stop trucks/van. These are very cool old vans. This particular van was originally a postal van. It has similar appeal as an international metro or divco van does. I believe this is the shortest wheelbase van you could buy. These old vans are very popular with rodders and vendors They make great rolling advertisement vehicles, mobile stores, food trucks, coffee shop, or mobile studios. They also look cool chopped or lowered and customized, but look really neat restored to original also. There is room in the back to stand up and put camper quarters, a harley, cooking equipment, speed parts, t-shirt vendor, or? Maybe the first gasser milk truck? The patina on this is perfect for a ratrod style traditional rod. Here are the details. I have more pics I can send also. I've added some pics of other cool vans on here to show the potential. Thanks. This van has the slant six cylinder with 727 automatic. A very tough drivetrain, easy to get parts for, cheap to buy parts for, and should have enough power to move it around fine.
MECHANICAL
This van has the original 727 automatic mopar transmission, and slant six inline six cylinder. The engine and transmission work great. I would do the normal tuneup stuff because it has been sitting, but it really runs pretty nice. No smoke, knocks, or anything weird. Runs cool. Transmission doesn't slip and all gears work. This is a pushbutton auto, and the parking brake does work. Brakes don't work because one rear wheel cylinder was locked up and removed. Should be an easy fix and Master cylinder seems to work when I put fluid in it but it just pumps it out that wheel. I believe everything works but it needs some light bulbs and tlc. Fuel system was cleaned. Starts right up. All keys included for doors. Rear is a roll up. It has a propane heater and stove. I have not tried them but they most likely work. This is the type of propane heater that has no electric or fan so you can stay warm without using any battery. Small RV conversion still in decent shape. It's basically a stove, heater, cabinets, and bed area. Overall the van should have a tuneup/flush but it runs nice. Wheels in pics aren't included. They are 19.5 split rims so I'm putting 16" wheels on it. 19.5's are expensive and not needed for a vehicle this small. E-rated 16" tires will be more than sufficient and cheaper to buy. It will come with usable tires.
BODY:
This van has a nice body with no rust. The passenger front corner had a dent that was not fixed right and the bondo is chipping off now but no rust underneath. Floors, frame, roof, quarters, etc. etc. have no rust. I would just wax it up and maybe put a hotrod shop sign on the door or? paint some faux patina on it. It's pretty straight overall. All doors work as they should. No leaks. It's a cool little van. It has windows below the windshield that open for fresh air. Old school a/c.
Interior:
The interior is not real nice, but it is clean and usable. You'll need a mattress and that's about it. It's easy to add a removable passenger seat in these also. It may have one that I forgot about..... I'll check.
Thanks and Happy bidding. If you want to do something on it, let me know. Thanks.
