1971 Chevrolet C-10 CST 10 Prostreet
This C10 takes its Custom Sport Truck model designation and Prostreet title to an extreme. It is truly all those things. Custom in its look and feel, Pro and Sport in its drivetrain and performance, and yet still Street with its drivability, air conditioning and nice stereo. Check it out. There is no mistaking what this truck is all about. No matter what angle you see it from first, it screams power and purpose. The funny thing... is that it does that in a rather subdued and pleasant shade of Blue. From the side you can see that the body started with the clean, classic lines of the second-generation, C series pickups. The rather large scoop on the hood, however, gives the game away pretty much immediately. The rest of the front end is simple with a custom horizontal bar grill underlined by a chrome bumper. If you approached it from the rear you might mistake the look for just another nice C10 with Chevrolet lettered in white on the tailgate. However, that would only be if you didn't notice the massive tires tucked up under those stock fenders. Dropping the tailgate reveals the tubbed inner fenders and a fuel cell for safety that reinforce the serious nature of this ride. Open the door and you will find the perfect combination of Pro and Street. The molded door panel is simple in black, but that's where simple ends. The bucket seats have substantial side bolsters to hold you in place during cruise night shenanigans, and wide racing harnesses for when things get serious. A Billet Specialties steering wheel is mounted on a tilt column and sits in front of a carbon dash packed with Auto Meter gauges for the tach and speedo as well as the critical engine functions along the bottom. Street oriented niceties include controls for the Vintage Air system to keep you cool on hot summer days as well as the Sony stereo mounted high in the center of the dash. Just below them, things get serious with an MSD Digital-6 programable ignition system, a fire extinguisher just in case, and the drag racing shifter for the transmission. Also in the mix with all those formidable controls in the console are power window switches and cup holders. Street and strip! Open that teardrop hood and you will find an intimidating motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. It started life as a 454. Then it was bored .060 over and a 4 ½ inch Eagle crank and rods was installed to bring it to 496 cubic inches. A 4-barrel carb feeds a high-rise intake manifold and then Brodyx heads capped by chrome valve covers with flames and Hunters lettered on them. Long tube headers get the spent gasses out and this motor sounds healthy! An aluminum radiator keeps things running cool and the power is sent back to a 3-speed automatic transmission to the rear end that is located by 3-link rear suspension for control, and has coil over shocks for adjustable ride height. The front end is a control arm setup with coils springs and a beefy sway bar to help it handle well while power disc brakes all around provide good stopping power. The rubber meets the road through 33X21.50-15LT tires in the rear and 205/75R15s up front mounted on Weld wheels. 1971 C10 Prostreet Custom Sport Truck. These words all have meaning.
