1955 Chevrolet Other Pickups
Say hello to Mater! I bought him roughly 3 years ago with grand plans after watching too many car restoration shows. Mater runs well, but definitely needs some body work if your plan for him isn't a rat-rod. Based on the engine stamp, Mater has a 283 V-8, which I don't believe is original to the truck--I don't think these trucks had a 283 engine option for this year. He has a manual transmission and 6 bolt lugs. I'm not completely sure about the mileage, it's kinda hard to see, and as I've said, I don't believe the engine is the original, so take it with a grain of salt. I had the carburetor rebuilt by a local professional and have probably only driven him for 200 miles since purchased. I also have some extra parts that come with Mater (see pictures): Chevy bowtie hood trim piece, alternator bracket, headlight trim buckets, extra horn, I was told the rubber trim set is complete (it's still in the plastic bags), an extra distributor cap, HEI, aluminum manifold and cab visor. These parts were all given to me when I bought Mater, so I can't attest to their fit/condition (although the rubber trim appears to be new). Additionally, I'm including a new, unused/uninstalled Painless wiring harness that I purchased with 28 circuits for all your needed upgrades if you go that route. The current wiring works, but it's a bit of a mess, which is why I bought a new harness (from what I remember it cost about $600. Mater can definitely use the rubber replacing (he leaks in the rain, which is why I've kept him in the garage the last few years). The windows are all there, but have some issues (mostly the side window vents and some bubbling in the windshield. You can tell previous owns used some bondo (especially on the fenders), so I'm definitely not claiming the body is straight--pretty obvious by the pictures. As you can see, this is a big window truck which is a pretty desirable upgrade option. I've enjoyed him, but decided to let someone else take him to the finish line (and I'm going to stop watching so many car shows). Clean and clear title in hand. We can make the transaction at a local, neutral place (I live in the St Louis metro area) and I'll expect full payment during the transaction. If shipment is needed, that will be completely up to the winning bidder to coordinate and I expect full payment before turning the vehicle over to a shipper. For anyone not familiar with these trucks, you can purchase just about anything you need from lmctruck.com and other websites as well, so acquiring parts shouldn't be a problem. Please post any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Please don't bid if you don't plan on buying--I only want to go through this once.No reserve, so highest bidder wins!Vehicle Details:
