Description:

1970 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic New TMI Brand

For Sale one 1970 VW Bug. We purchased this car to use as a tow car behind our RV. The car itself was sound with a fairly rust free pan and body. Surface rust was removed and painted with rust inhibitor. The vehicle runs great. It starts easily and does not smoke. The transmission shifts well with no issues. The brakes stop the vehicle properly and without issue. I began doing some upgrades to make it look more like a 1966 than a 1970 but we ended up selling the RV. We are moving out of state and I have decided to sell it instead of taking it with. I just want to get out what I have in it as far as parts.
The man I bought it from told me the following: When he bought it the prior owner had just had the engine rebuilt and added dual Solex carbs, a custom exhaust, a remote oil filter, and increased it to 1750 cc. He did not have the paperwork on the motor however it runs great and does not leak oil. He had all 4 brakes redone including brake hoses, and added new Empi spoke wheels and new 15" Aspen Touring A/S 185/65/R15 tires. He also replaced the window rubbers, aluminum trim and installed new running boards and 4 KYB GR2 Gas shocks.
I have done the following:
Body work (minor dents and dings) on the front fenders, front ¼ panels, front lower valence. Sealed and ready for paint. The plan was to paint it the off white/ cream color you see on the later model Bugs.
Clean and touch up in front trunk spare tire well.
The entire interior has been cleaned and Dynamat like Butyl sound deadening applied: Entire roof, doors, front and rear ¼ panels, and behind rear seat. Some areas have an additional layer of quilted sound proofing: roof, 1/4 panels front and rear. The floor has 3 layers of rubber sound deadening.
The battery tray was rusted so I welded in a replacement with no visible change.
The padded dash was removed and bolt holes welded up. An original radio delete plate was added and 1966 glove box door added. The dash looks like a 1966 not a 1970. The windshield is out to facilitate the body work and dash paint.
I purchased a complete interior from the Premier VW interior company: TMI in Corona, Ca. This includes a full carpet kit, Matching door panels, ¼ panels, front and rear seat custom pads and covers. The front seats were changed from high back to low back and came out looking like original 1966 seats. The headliner is mohair. The distributor: J Bugs has online tutorials for installation of the complete interior and my wife and I covered the front seats which came out great.
The following extras were purchased: Stock spare wheel.
New front trunk cardboard and carpet mat.
Original equipment Pop Out rear ¼ windows with new rubber seals.
New rear tail light housings, lenses, and gaskets.
New front turn signal housings, lenses and gaskets.
Assorted new gaskets for bumpers, door handles etc.
1966 style glove box door and ash tray.
The windshield wiper switch and headlight switch need to be replaced as they were damaged in removal. I had planned to change the knobs to the cream color old style.
This is a project car. It runs and drives however needs to be painted and the interior installed to be complete. Vehicle is sold AS IS No guarantee expressed or implied. It has a clear Arizona title. I am basically selling it for the money I have in it not including my labor. This would make a great father son or daughter project. No low ball offers. If I have to I will take it with and complete it later.
Deposit of $ 1000.00 required at close of auction. Full payment required within 10 days of close of auction.
