Description:

1972 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Westfalia

Having to sell my Westy as I have too many vehicles and I do not use it that much anymore. This bus is in better than average shape for a Northeast Bus I'd say. It is fairly solid with just a few small spots of bondo. Doglegs are great. The drivers side floor is getting a little soft and could probably could use some attention soon. Front bumper is straight. It has a new windshield. Rubber around the doors and windows are hard and cracked. Could use replacing. All doors open and shut fine. Rear hatch doesn't catch to well sometimes, but really not a problem. Windows all work as they should. passenger side rear corner has some dents but repairable. Back bumper is all dinged up. Engine hatch works as it should. The poptop canvas is pretty well shot. You can buy a new one online. The front hinges for the top are broken and need replacing. Interior is in pretty good shape. No cracks on the dash. The drivers seat is shot. Passenger seat is pretty good. I'm including a set of high back seats out of a newer bus that you can replace them with. The bed works fine and the cushions are pretty good. A few cracks here and there from age. Still has the sink and icebox but I never used them except for storage. Mechanically, this bus is very good. Runs like new. I put a new crate motor in in 2005 and I never used it much. Not sure of mileage on it but it's definitely not more than 5000 miles. I only drove it a few times a summer to some festivals and concerts. Recently it's developed a problem where it's a 50/50 shot if the starter will catch. The starter is good but it's something with the wires. Its a common problem with these and it's easily fixed with a relay. Sometimes it fires right up other times you have to keep clicking the key (or give it a push and pop the clutch..lol) Carbs were rebuilt at the time of new engine and are fine. Might need a new clutch soon as its feeling a little sloppy, but it shifts just fine now. Brakes are perfect. Had a new Vacuum booster and Master cylinder installed a few years back. No issues here. Had a new muffler installed a few years back also. Windshield wiper motor is slow but I'm including another motor and it's a simple change. Directionals have a bad ground someplace but I haven't had a chance to fix this. They still work but they blink super fast. So thats it. Thats all I can think of. Shes not a showpiece but she could be. If you want a bus to have a ball with though, this is the one. Mechanically, shes excellent. Most of what she needs is cosmetics. Thanks for checking out my auction. The car cover is included with auction.
