Description:

1971 Toyota Land Cruiser Black and Chrome

1971 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40

This is a very capable off road machine, it will go anywhere you want it to.It is also a good daily driver, drives smoother on the highway than most of other cruisers. I drive nyc to montauk is no problem about 125 miles. I have also driven up to Vermont and Montreal a bit further. Always an adventure and a joy to drive with the top off in summer. Plenty of power and speed with the v8 engine upgrade.

I have done a lot of mechanical work and invested a lot into this truck in the last year or two. I just put in a new 350 Engine last year to replace one from the original conversion. I also replaced the steering gear, radiator, alternator, front tires, exhaust, and muffler. The electronic ignition is new and it was completely re-wired the year before. It drives and starts great at this point, and everything mechanical and fluid wise is in top working order

NEW Chevy Small Block 350 V8 5.7L engine (with only 1400 Miles)

NEW Summit 750 Carburetor, K&N air intake, and Electronic Ignition!(starts perfect)

NEW Steering Gear Radiator, Alternator, Front Tires, Exhaust/Muffler

Recently Re-Wired with Painless Wire Harness and Fuse Box - CD/Bluetooth Stereo with Waterproof Speakers

Below is a list of modifications beyond stock:

V8 Chevy Small Block 350 5.7 - Engine and Transmission Conversion

Automatic TH400 Turbo Transmission

Disk Brakes front and rear: toyota mini-truck front and TSM rear (huge performance/safety upgrade)

Power Stearing: Saginaw Conversion(huge difference on and off road)

Custom Roll Cage, padded for carrying surfboard

Spring Over Axel Conversion: more lift and suspension flex

Shackle Reversal: longer weel base, better approach angle

3 speed transfer case – Twin stick transfer case from advanced adapters: allows user to select any combo of 2x4, 4x4, high and low range

Dual Gas tank: 40 Gallon Capacity

Mohave heater added.

Rear custom bumper and spare tire carier.

Bucket seats with 4 point harnesses in the front. Bench seat in the rear.

Sits on 33x12.5 inch BFG All Terrains.

Included is a black Bestop soft top, and Yakima Surfoard Racks that fit on the hard top.

It is great off road, as well as on the highway. It will drive 65 or 70 over long distances without any problem. It will go faster of course with this engine, but passes beyond the comfort zone for what it is engineered for.

“Tropicana” was originally purchased in California 1997 and shipped to New York City in 1998. in New York for 12 years, and then spent one year in vermont until I bought it in 2007. I have owned the FJ for ten years.Needs some aesthetic replacement of body panels. The frame is solid, and everything is mechanically in great shape. Included in the sale are the fabricated steel rocker, rear corner and rear sill replacement panels needed. All other panels and parts tend to be readily available, as well as chevy parts which are easier with the engine conversion.

Last year I purchased the steel panels to move forward with the body restoration, but have not been able to do it yet. I would love to keep it, but I no longer have a place to keep it or do the work. It is a great truck, it deserves to go to someone who is ready to carry on the legacy. Great as it is, and still turns heads everywhere it goes. A perfect one for someone who thinks it’s beachy, or is interested in working on the body and paint to get it fully restored so it can last forever. The starting price is based on the cost of the work I did on the truck last year.
