Description:

1985 Renault Fuego R136B

I have to thin out my Renault collection due to storage space. Up for sale is a 1985 Renault Fuego 2.2L with a 5 speed transmission and 80K miles. I have owed the car for about 3 years and it has been very reliable. I have driven it from Boston to Carlisle, PA and back for the import and tuner show and it has also gone to Granby, Quebec twice for a car show up there. I have put over 3000 miles on it over the time I have owned it and it may not sound like a lot but I have 3 other Renaults and a Mopar that I also drive and that is part of the reason why I'm letting this one go.
It runs, drives, shifts, steers and stops excellent. When I got the car in 2016 I had replaced the brake pads and rotors and the rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders. I have also replaced the ball joints. I recently replace the steering rack with a used one that has less than 20K miles on it according to the salvage yard that I bought it from. When I bought the car the starter was not working so I replaced it with a brand new one. The new starter is defective and about 1 out of 10 times you try to start it, the starter just clicks, so you have to put the car in gear and rock it forward or backward and it always starts right up. If it was my daily driver I'm sure I would have replaced it again, but it doesn't happen often enough to bug me that much. I have also replaced the heater valve and put a new set of tires on it. Pretty much everything on the car works besides the AC, the cruise control and the rear wiper.
The clear coat on the car is starting to fade and it could use a paint job. There is also some rust starting to show in the left rear wheel well. The rest of the car is rock solid. While the sunroof opens and closes fine, it has shrunk over the years and it doesn't close 100% of the way. It doesn't leak any water, but the wind noise on the highway is pretty bad. I'm sure an upholstery shop could repair it with a new canvas.
I didn't realize it until I went to register the car that it has a reconstructed title. The previous owner never told me. After inspection, I can see where it was in a minor accident in the right front. The inner fender well near the headlight looks like it has been straightened out and the hood and fender have been replaced. Not a big deal but I wanted to disclose it so it's not a surprise.
This car is a bit of a French movie star as well. It was in a French hit comedy movie filmed in Washington DC called Who Re-Killed Pamela Anderson where it had an appearance at the beginning of the movie where the owner ate the car and then at the end where it was wrapped in black. This was before I bought the car. See the photos above. It was also in a French TV car magazine show called Turbo where it was featured when I drove it to Carlisle in 2016.
