1976 Porsche 912

This Porsche 912e was a one year only model. Producedto fill the entry-level position left vacant by the discontinuation of the 914, while the new 924, the 914's official replacemen, was being finalized and put into production.

Once in production, the 912E shared the "G-Series" bodywork with the 911S but was powered by an 86bhp 2.0, refined with a new Bosch L-Jetronic (Air Flow Controlled) fuel injection system. During the production run of May 1975 to July 1976, Porsche manufactured only 2099 of the 912E, targeted to the US market.

This particular car is serial number 2047 of 2099 manufactured. Late-series build includes ’77 911 chassis components such as adjustable rear spring-plates.

The car has very low mileage - 94K total Miles. (Speedo indicates 66K. Service records show it was replaced at 28K.) comes with decades of records & receipts. Original engine and transmission. All tools and manuals. Even the original radio is included!

Sunroof functions well, does not leak. Upgraded Sony AM/FM/CD with USB sounds great. Original Bosch L-jet fuel-injection, smog-legal for CA. (Original thermal reactors removed long-ago to avoid premature engine wear.) Factory A/C works well. Upgraded to rotary compressor, new barrier hoses, etc. Electric fans added to condenser to improve air-flow while idling in traffic. External oil-cooler added for increased engine longevity. Oil temperature thermostat controls flow to the cooler which has a fan that is also thermostatically controlled. Unlike most 912E engines, oil temps remain in check regardless of load, A/C and high ambient temps.

Original silver paint is shiny and the black interior is in very good condition, no splits/rips/tears. Original cloth seat inserts are cool and comfortable. Coco Mats protect original carpet underneath.

Reliable and economical. Fuel economy approaches 30 mpg. With the 20-gallon fuel tank, driving range approaches 600 miles! Great road/freeway-flyer. Simple to maintain 4-cylinder Type-IV motor (similar to Porsche 914). Pertronix pointless ignition. Original spare tire, tool-kit. New windshield in flawless condition.Minor issues: Transmission 3rd gear synchro slightly worn but is smooth and quiet if you shift normally.

This is probably one of the best 912E's in the world!!!
