1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass F85 Convertible 7.5L 455ci V8 / Turbo Hydramatic Wedgewood Mist Blue / White Vinyl New Convertible Top Running/Driving Project VIDEO WITH LISTING VIN: 824M311331 8: V8 2: F85 Cutlass 4: 1964 Model Year M: Lansing, MI Assembly Plant 311331: Serial Engine: 7.5L 455ci V8, #396021F, 1968-1972 Trim: White Vinyl (967) Paint: Wedgewood Mist Blue (F) Date of Manufacture: July, Fourth Week Style: Cutlass 2dr Convertible (64-3267) We purchased this ‘64 Cutlass Convertible from a gentleman in Missouri who had been long-term restoring the car, before eventually stalling and deciding to move on from it. For someone who would enjoy the process of installing the trim pieces, assembling the interior, and doing some fine-tuning work, this car presents an awesome opportunity. As it sits now this car runs, drives, and stops, but the idle is weak (requires throttle input for a couple minutes until it’s warm enough to hold on its own) and the front brakes are awfully eager at parking lot speeds. Exterior: The car has of course been repainted, but it does retain its correct Wedgewood Mist over White Vinyl color combination. Paint appears to have been done to a high standard – no notable areas of dust nibs or orange peel. There is a little spot of paint run, but that is where the mount holes are for the front trim piece and will be covered when the trim is on (you can see it in the straight-on door panel photo). Body is nice and straight, with no dents or dings of note. Polished trim is all very nice, with no oxidation, and the missing trim pieces will come in a box with the car (nose piece, rear surround). This car is suuuper dry – it has obviously always been responsibly-kept. No body rust or bubbling to be found on the car. Glass is all clear and crack-free, as are light lenses. Lights and signals are all functional. Black convertible top is new, having been replaced just this winter. Unfortunately the power top is not functional at the moment, so that will need to be addressed in order to really fully enjoy the car. Panel fitment is spot-on, and the doors open and close nice and smooth. Windows roll up smoothly and fit nice and snug to the top, but the weatherstripping needs to be replaced. Aftermarket wheels are in nice shape, with no curb rash and only the slightest bit of oxidation/wear. Hankook tires are in good shape but we don’t know exactly when they’re from, so we would recommend replacing sooner rather than later. Interior: White vinyl interior is in good shape but needs some assembly. One tiny little puncture in the center of the rear passenger seat bottom, white vinyl is excellent otherwise. Door panels and interior handles need to be installed both front and rear, and the current dash layout is largely aftermarket. Original gauges are in a box in the trunk if you would like to make the swap. Aftermarket gauges are all functional, gauge backlights as well. Aftermarket radio powers on, but no speakers are connected. Black carpet looks good, not frayed or discolored. Blower/fan is functional. Under the Hood / Underbody: Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is shown in detail. Looks very nice underneath. Looks like the driver’s front floor corner was rust repaired at some point but done properly. The car runs, drives, and stops, but is not ready to be actively used straightaway. Front brakes need a look, as it’s tough not to toss yourself forward in the seat when braking at parking lot speeds. The car runs fairly well, but it struggles to hold an idle until it gets warm. With a bit of TLC, this will be a very, very cool car. With any further questions, requests, or to discuss purchasing, please reach out to Jake at 773-273-8257.
