1979 Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC *BARN FIND*

VIN# 10702412023824

Mileage: 128000 original miles (mostly highway miles)

Preserved in a patina of yesteryear, this 450-SLC MERCEDES-BENZ is very low mileage for a 1979. Although it has been in a family barn for about 8 years, it needs a good detailing and a few minor restoration projects. It was recently broken into and sustained minor damage: back side window broken (replacement window $35 priced at an online parts store), most minor other issues are included in photos. The passenger seat adjustment needs attention. A small tree limb dropped on the back passenger side fender. That was what prompted it being put under cover in the barn. The engine has been started several times as recently as July 4th Weekend 2019. It has a strong engine. (The ROAR!)

And then there's the part about how FAST it goes!! Hit the pedal and you KNOW you're glad for the seat belt! Thrilling!

No chipped glass in the front or rear windows. The other 3 side windows are in good condition. The body needs compounded, paint touch-ups, or possibly repainted to restore it's former glory. It does look spectacular in silver! Front grille, emblem on hood, another on the truck, and large star in grille are in perfect shape. There's no major damage, except that darned limb! All-in-all, a great summer project. See pics.

Regularly maintained by an authorized MB mechanic before it was "barned”. (The file can go with it.) Original car phone was recently stolen (see above), but worked through AT&T as recently as 2009. Those very cool coily-corded phones can sometimes be found on eBay, etc. New car battery recently installed.

****N.B.**** This car has had the motor mounts replaced by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership. Common to this vehicle, cracked mounts have resulted in many engines dropping to the pavement and causing major, serious damage to the vehicle and passengers. The repairs for that average $3800 to $4800. This shortcoming has ALREADY BEEN REMEDIED!

This was my personal vehicle until a serious injury prevented me from getting in or out of it, even as a passenger. And, I can tell you it is powerful, fast, and so much fun to drive. ALWAYS gets attention, and questions! But, I really must let it go for someone else to enjoy. We discussed getting restoration done, ourselves, but since I can no longer enjoy the ride (or drive), we've decided to sell it as is, and let this be someone else's summer project. Once restored, the value will easily double (or more) the price. And this beauty has many, many more miles to fly and let the wind mess-up your hair!

The first photos were taken just as we took it out of the barn. I didn't even get the leaves brushed off of it! The first pic has hood open to charge the battery. (We have since replaced with a new battery.) What it is covered in is dust that, in our terrible humidity, has become a film. This film will wash and detail, the chrome will sparkle again. The last photo was taken just before putting in the barn. This is a rare find, and worth all the elbow-grease to put it back to it's former glory. The sheepskin (real) seat covers stay-put. They were on it when I bought it.

This is a sweet ride, and will be sheer bliss to put on the road again. Last photo taken the day we put it into the barn. When detailed, it is a beauty!

Any serious offer will be given consideration.

Just ask, if you have questions. Will coordinate with hauler.
