Coupe in factory colors of “Ice Blue Metallic Moon Dust” with Custom Pinstripes, “Midnight Blue” Landau Vinyl Roof, and “Wedgewood Blue” Leather interior

This is the last of the true Lincoln-Ford big block beasts on a full-size luxury chassis from Memphis, TN. Elvis Presley (of Rock and Roll fame) drove and purchased this model for friends starting in 1977- “Oldskool” American Luxury before downsizing in 1980.

Rare find: A 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V Coupe nearly all original low mileage two-owner vehicle. This Lincoln has the @213HP Ford 460 V-8 “Big Block” with the originalMotorcraft (4350) 4-BBL carburetor and Lincoln “Special” C-6 Three Speed Automatic transmission power plant. This beauty is a very clean rust free example from Memphis, Tennessee. Only 32,000 original miles. Newer base/clear finish in original colors. Original “Wedgewood Blue” soft leather interior with Dark Blue deep-pile carpeting and the original carpeted floor mats. All functional instrumentation. AC that blows ICE COLD with Retro-fit R134A. Even the Cartier clock still works. Working power seats/power windows/power locks. Vacuum Lights flip up fast- like new. “Alloy Turbine Spoked” 15” Ford Custom Wheels and White-Wall tires. (Also features collectible 1978 Shelby County-Memphis, TN License Plate)
*This Mark V comes thoroughly documented with owner’s manual, dealer warranty, window sticker, and miscellaneous.

Special Notes: Maintenance schedule is current. Clean unmolested engine compartment with 39 year-old natural patina-No leaks/No smoke or noises. Original factory grease markings and assembly line inspection stamps. Clean metal throughout and clean original carpeting with spare tire kit in trunk area. Excellent rubbers throughout. Ready to rock and roll- just like Elvis ; ) Everything works including the Illuminated Entry System. (Soft Lighted interior and door locks when you lock or unlock the car.) Power Antenna motor runs but mast does not move. Frankly, one of the best riding/driving vehicles I have ever experienced in a classic Lincoln- very solid, quiet, and breaks the rear tires loose! There are certain vehicles that come along that I wish I had the space and the budget to keep for my own- this is one of them. I am a GM guy and this Mark V has really made an impression on me. I'm selling it for the 73 year-old second owner. It needs only a good home and driven occasionally. It has been garaged all its two-owner life and also includes a cover.

Sales Slogan
“Let Lincoln Continental Make a Mark for You”

Ford Motor Company began its 75th year on June 16, 1977, and threw a big party in 1978 to celebrate the occasion. The Continental Mark V for 1978 was essentially a carryover from 1977, and why would Lincoln want to change it? After one of its best sales years ever, Lincoln was correct in addressing more important issues of the day: fuel economy. Sales remained brisk through the 1978 model year. The lines of the Mark V were about as clean and elegant as they could be, and other cars all seemed to lack the Marks’ almost silent interior environment. Overall quality control remained good, as it had been throughout the 70's. Although the personal luxury car market was changing, it is difficult to imagine that anyone could design a car of this size any better than Lincoln did with the Mark V of 1978. One only had to look at this fine automobile to recognize its elegance. Customers who missed the opportunity in 1978 would be granted one additional year to make their purchase, after which the Mark would change dramatically. The exquisite styling, the big 460 power plant (discontinued in 1979), the roominess, and the famed Continental ride that is only Continental- The beginning of the end of the line, in celebration of 75 years. –Automotive Mileposts
