Another Binder has arrived at MotoeXotica Classic Cars, this time in the form of a 1957 A120 ¾-Ton 4x4 Pickup Truck on a 126-inch wheelbase. Complete with two sets of wheels and tires, one being the standard original size and the second being oversized off-road tires. This is an investment quality truck that is rarley seen, much less in near perfect condition!
Three-quarter-ton Binder 4x4s are rare and this one is fresh from a frame-off restoration. Its new factory Magnolia Ivory over Gulfstream Blue paint is in excellent condition, as are its Deluxe Custom Cab trim pieces, including the front bumper and grab bars just outside of the doors. Overall, the glass panels are in very good condition. All of the truck’s lights are in great shape. This trucks rolls on new Bluestar ST-627 tires, sized 7.50-16, surrounding steel wheelies topped with full moon International-Harvester wheel covers; while the second set off wheels and tires are 33x12.50R16.5LT. There’s also a full-size spare tire on the driver’s side of the bed, complete with matching wheel cover. All of the truck’s body panels are straight and solid, including the cargo bed, which features a black bed mat. The engine bay is very tidy and the battery looks new.
Under the hood is a rebuilt Black Diamond 220 CID inline six-cylinder engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. This truck has the following additional new parts- brakes and wiring. This was the first year for I-H 12-volt electrical systems.
Inside, the newly upholstered bench seat is in excellent condition, as is the black floor matting and the corrugated metal under the seat. The truck’s headliner is also in very good order. The instrument panel is blue and white, has full instrumentation and looks fantastic, complementing the exterior. The original, four-spoke steering wheel is present and the inner door panel colors go with the seat. Rounding out the interior is a unique, overhead-mounted factory AM radio, good mirror glass and gearshift lever.
In the cargo bed are four, brand new 33" x 12.4" mud terrain tires mounted on the Gulfstream Blue 16.5" rims.
The International A-Series (or A-line) replaced the S-Series in April 1957. The name stood for "Anniversary," as 1957 marked the 50th (or Golden) Anniversary of International-Harvester truck production. It was largely a re-bodied version of the light and medium S-Series truck, incorporating a wider cab, wraparound windshield and more integrated fenders.
The new lower design necessitated a slight hump in the cabin floor. The stylish new front end, deleted running boards, and panoramic windshield brought the design more up to date for the later half of the fifties on this, the first all-new design to appear since Ted Ornas was put in charge of design in 1953. The hood was now hinged in the rear, rather than being a lift-off unit. The parking lights were mounted above the headlights. There were A-100 to A-180 series models available, with Gross Vehicle Weight ratings ranging from 4,200 to 33,000 pounds. A step-side bed remained standard, but a new flush-sided "Bonus Load" bed was an option for the first time.
Competitors to this Binder in 1957 included Chevrolet’s 3100 Task Force pickups, GMC’s Blue Chip pickups, Ford’s F-Series and Dodge’s C-Series.
This truck is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 1 mile. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
