1986 GMC K1500 4X4

If you grew up at a certain time, you remember trucks like this 1987 GMC K-10 4x4 pickup everywhere. What you don't remember is any that were this nice, and someone has taken exceptionally good care of this handsome truck to make it one of the very nicest original 4x4s we've ever seen. Very nicely preserved in its original bright red paint, this truck is a lot more contemporary-looking than many of its siblings. Preservation is very impressive, far better than a truck at this price usually offers, and aside from a few age-appropriate signs of use, there's really nothing to complain about. It doesn't look like this truck ever worked for a living, and most short bed/regular cab models were purchased as drivers, which is surely how this one spent most of its life. The chrome and stainless trim is in great shape and this one includes a bright insert on the tailgate, dual chrome mirrors, and shiny stainless steel belt moldings, all of which make this truck look quite stylish. The bed itself is in fantastic condition thanks to a drop-in bed liner and offering more evidence that it never had to haul gravel for a living; it's still up for a haul or two on weekends. After all, a pickup truck is about the most useful tool you can own, even if it's one that's this much fun to drive. Accessory bed rails and a set of tie-downs in the bed itself mean it's still as practical as ever. The interior is just as nicely preserved with mostly original components, all of which have an all-of-a-piece look that works quite well. Cloth seating surfaces and plush carpets give the GMC a more upscale feel than its Chevy cousins and the familiar GM upholstery is in good shape save for some light fading (all but inevitably with red fabric). This GMC is also equipped with cold factory A/C and there's a newer JVC AM/FM/CD stereo in the dash powering modern speakers in the doors. The lever on the floor controls the 2-speed transfer case, so it's easy to switch between two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive on the fly, a feature that's so useful you'll wonder how you got by without it. The A/C is fully functional thanks to an R134a refrigerant upgrade and once you settle in behind the wheel, you'll feel right at home after all these years. The engine is a 350 cubic inch GM crate motor, so it's reliable and easy to maintain. The original fuel injection was replaced by a familiar Holley carburetor, HEI ignition system, and an aluminum GM intake, so it runs great and will be a snap to maintain for years to come. It's not all dressed up and shiny, but you'll appreciate the rugged utility of the strong, torquey small block every time you drop it into gear. The transmission is a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive, so even though it's a giant pickup on big tires, fuel economy is at least tolerable and it cruises pretty easily at highway speeds. The exhaust has been tweaked a bit with long-tube headers and dual mufflers with twin chrome tips under the rear bumper. You'll also note that this is a dual-tank truck, offering bladder-bursting cruising range and the stock suspension allows the use of those big 31x10.5-15 off-road radials. This is a truck that could still be driven every day and not feel like you're giving up any modern comfort and convenience. If you like the look, you're going to love how it drives. Call today!
