1935 Ford 48 Coupe

The hot rod culture has inspired many terms and if you are considering getting into it, you should look up some neat-o terms, so you seem to know what you are doing. Here are some of the highlights. Appletons, Shaved, Baby Moons, Chopped, Pinched, Roll Pan, Nosed, Front Clip, Fat Fendered, Blown Gasser, and Rake. That should be good if you study up on these, go to Classic Auto Mall and buy a hot rod, then put on some white sox, a pair of penny loafer, and roll your jeans up in a cuff, and you will be the belle of the ball.

For consignment a piece of eye candy in the form of a Ford 48 Coupe hot rod. This visual-licious beast has been handmade from the ground up, blinged with some wild paint, and ramped up on the power end, and now is a real head turner. Don't look too closely you may go blind, with ambition that is to purchase this hand built beauty.

Exterior
All steel here kids, all straight, and gaps well minded retaining much of its original form as old Henry would have made it. A 3-1/2 inch chop to the roof, a shaving of the rear rumble seat handle, then a draping of Mint paint with a Black topping, and you are in Salt Water Taffy Heaven. With its sunray style mint paint blazing rearward from the grille into the black cowled hood, and the swooping black shoe curve meandering towards the rear and down to the bumper, you are nothing but cool you showoff. Chrome accoutrements are all in nice condition and pepper this car. Noteworthy are the polished Weld Rodlite wheels wrapped with radial rubber. A shout to the hood ornament as it may go into my hall of fame with its winged V8 combination with the cloisonn bleu oval not far below.

Interior
Gray burlap greets us as we swing the doors, and the panels sport billet style aluminum knobs and handles. Dual tweed light gray buckets flank a custom wood console complete with storage flip up and cup holder (what more could you want?) Rising from the ashes of the jet-black carpet is a long-stemmed shifter with aluminum knob to keep in fashion with the handles on the doors. A gray glossy painted dash houses a cluster of VDO white faced gauges and spun aluminum knobs and pulls. Within the tight canvas headliner is a custom box hanging from the ceiling housing a Kenwood AM/FM/CD player. A Billet steering wheel fronts the dash and presents itself to the driver ergonomically. A/C is noted and blows cool. The mother in law rumble seat is actuated by a remote and matches the tweed interior.

Drivetrain
An early to mid 1980's style 305ci V8 is tucked neatly under the cowled hood and within the confines of a mint engine bay. Shining on like a crazy diamond its dripping with chromed add ons and is topped by a single 4-barrel Edelbrock intake and carb. The TH350 automatic transmission provides the power to the wheels and feeds a Ford 8-inch rear.

Undercarriage
During the build extra time was taken to respray all the underside of the car in matching mint, as well as hit all the steel frame and suspension in black. Just a beautiful job here with Mustang II front suspension and leaf spring in the rear, also power drum on the rear and power disc on the front. Headers melt into a large exhaust system featuring turbo style mufflers.

Drive-Ability
Once I was in, it was a fab test drive. Comfortable, good sound system, cold air, and plenty of fast starting power form the 305 cubes. It shifted smoothly and ran like a clock over the undulating landscape of the Classic Auto Mall. Power steering and power brakes help a lot in controlling this rolling showpiece.
