1967 Ford Retractable Hardtop Mustang

Ford commissioned Ben Smith to build a prototype Mustang retractable hardtop. Ford later decided not to build the Mustang retractable. The car up for sale is one of Ben Smith's creative designs.

It is my understanding (not verified) there were approx 15 retractable Mustangs completed.Of that total, approx. 3 were from 1967 (also not verified). To my knowledge, this is the only uncompleted example of Ben Smith's work on the 1967 Mustang. It was my dream to complete this car but I moved on to other projects along the way. This is a diamond-in-the-rough and will take a skilled body man to complete. The 302 engine is incomplete. There is rust in fenders and windshield posts but floor appears to be solid. The floor pan has been reinforced with Ben Smith's redesigned torque boxes. This is a project car. It is in rough condition. The original car before modification was a Mustang 6 cylinder coupe.

I have an open Florida title.
