The car for auction is arguably the best documented 1973 Ford Mach 1 Mustang survivor car on the market. Let's start with the cars amazing history.
History:
The car was purchased new August 28th 1973 by Dorothy Cereno from Salesman Jack Kelsey at Colonial Ford in Niagara Falls New York. The car was immediately taken the same day to Armor Guard to be treated to their Rust Guard rust proofing product. (Probably the reason the car has survived in this condition. Stickers still in the window, companies apparently still in business see pictures of the paperwork). The two owners of this car (believed to be same family) apparently had one thing in common. They both were heavy on documentation and paperwork. They saved any and everything associated with this car and they both believed strongly in having all their maintenance performed on time and usually at Ford Dealerships. I still have the original delivery packet from the Ford dealership, the yellow dealership key tags that were on the keys new that includes the original dealership stock number and key codes, the original odometer disclosure statement at the time of sale, the original owners manual and warranty booklets including the owners card warranty identification card punched into metal with the owners name at the time of sale which still looks brand new. (see picture). Virtually every oil change, new set of tires, alignment, new shocks along with mileage at any particular date in the cars history is documented within these receipts and the page after page of documentation. It is truly like a time capsule from 1973. The car lived in Niagara Falls New York the first half of its life. The car then moved down to South Carolina with its owners and was then passed onto Belleville Illinois with their son.
Features and options:
The 1973 Mustang Mach One has the original, untouched 351 Cleveland 2 bbl still bearing it's original K600c valve cover sticker. The transmission I was told by the mechanic is the C6 it came with and the rear end is the original Ford 9 inch.
The interior features it's black bucket seats with factory stripes, factory tachometer and gauges,AM 8 track radio with an old school aftermarket FM converter (installed in 73) from back in the day. The car has automatic transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, three speed wipers, cig lighter, and remote drivers sport mirror. (Note, one of the only areas of damage on this survivor car is broken base on the passenger sport mirror. I still have the mirror).
Trunk:
Metal in trunk is very solid. There is I believe to be original Firestone Wide Oval spare tire and jack.
Areas that need attention:
The passenger side sport mirror is broke off the car at the base. (no door damage and original holes perfect). The rear original bumper on the looks good from far but up close is scratchy and could use a reconditioned. The dash pad has a age crack but is cheap to replace. The car, although never wrecked to the best of my knowledge, (believe me, there would be receipts) has had some minor paint work and minor blends here and there. You would expect this in a driver quality car. Although the paint quality is decent and keeps a good shine, I think the car would benefit from a really good high quality buff and polish.
Recent work:
It is very obvious looking at the quality of the car that the car has never been a daily driver. This car is and has always been a nice weather sunny day car and other than that tucked in the garage. Although being a nice weather car that is great for the sheet metal, not always so good for the bushings, brake lines, and suspension pieces. Having said that, this car was serviced at the Ford dealership with new lower A-Arms and every suspension part checked out good or replaced. They also inspect and replaced any brake and brake line parts that were not perfect. It just drives like a new car. A New radiator, hoses, and just a complete very extensive tune up several years ago and had under 500 mikes on it since then. I would get in this car today and drive it to California or New York in a second. Do not be afraid to fly in, get in this car and drive it anywhere in the country. It is ready to go.
Value:
I have taken the liberty of contacting Hagerty Insurance and asked then to send me a print out of the value of the car using Hagerty Valuation Tools website. I have included a photo of this information. I was told by them based on the pictures that this car would be considered a very low 2 level car or an extremely high 3 level car.
