1967 Ford Thunderbird

I saw this 67 Tbird on the side of the road in rural Maine where it had been recently pulled out of long term storage in the owners barn. The previous owner had bought it out of a Hot Rod shop in New Hampshire where it was destined to be a resto-mod but that project never got off the ground. Before that it had been in Florida since new. After inspecting it and finding it virtually rust free i made a deal, even though it did not run and hadn't in many years. It was last registered in 2002. I brought it back to the barn at my lake house and went to work. A simply battery, fluid change and adjustment of the park switch and it fired up, old gas and all ( I had thought it was out of gas according to the gauge) I added fresh gas and let it run up to operating temp. Initially it was smoking and smelled like the old gas it was running on but eventually that went away. The engine runs smooth and quiet. I next tackled the brakes. Even though the system had been redone when it was last driven the hydraulics needed to be replaced again. I reused the then new hoses and rebuilt the then new calipers. I have since insured and have been driving the car locally to make sure it is safe and reliable. All lights, horn, wipers, heater work. The radio makes noise when you turn it on but since the power antenna does not go up (switch problem, motor runs but only wants to go in the down direction). The drivers door pull is broken and the are a couple minor cracks in the door arm rest along with a loose headliner. Other than that the interior is in amazing condition. The leather seat are excellent, no loose seams or cracking, the dash has no cracks, even the original carpets are very good. All glass is excellent.
The body is amazing, with absolutely no rust ever, only the chips and scratches show surface rust. The previous owner had sanded and primed a few of the larger spots with an ugly brown primer. I wet sanded these areas and had paint made to code to make the car presentable, hard to see in the pics but I have more pics to show what I did closer. the frame and undercarriage are perfect, no more than the flash surface rust on the chassis and suspension. The chrome is decent but dulling, trim also is decent and complete but does have some dents and dings in it.
This Tbird, runs drives, starts and stops very well, it is smooth and quiet, no rattles or clunks, simply a nice driver. The gauges all read low. I noticed the gas gauge worked but only showed a 1/16 of a tank though it was half full, the temp gauge ran almost cold even after it was warmed up and the oil pressure showed on the low side of good even though the engine sounded great. To be sure I temporarily installed a mechanical gauge and as I expected it showed 40-50 psi at hot idle and 60 when rpm was increased ) I have pics and a video of the gauge operation)
I am currently driving the car and will keep it here at my lake house if it does not sell. I encourage anyone to inspect the car. The car is rather unusual as it has no Landau roof as most do giving it cleaner look. Also unusual is the lack of AC or power windows? I suppose common in the 60's just thinking most luxury cars like the Thunderbird would have those options.
The car is located in Newfield, ME. 04095 but is listed as Wakefield, MA. 01880 as I have a home there and can bring it there where the shipping should be much less for most people. Any questions, email, call or text Mark 617-538-7970.
