Description:

1927 Ford Model T

Original 1964-Built All Steel Hot Rod, recently restored

Original, all steel T-bucket built in Campbell, CA in 1964 -- recently treated to a thorough, sympathetic restoration. It’s a great example of how a handful of subtle, modern upgrades can make a cool old hot rod safer, more reliable and more comfortable — without messing up its original DNA.

BODY: The all-steel ‘27 T body and Model A bed are from the original build. So are the sectioned Deuce grille shell, headlights and cast aluminum headlight stands. The paint is older but in good condition.

CHASSIS: The original Model A chassis has been reinforced with tubular cross members and new motor mounts. Up front it features a ’35 axle and ’40 wishbones and new Posies spring. In back a ’57 Ford Nine Inch Positraction rear end is hung on an A spring and triangulated four bars. The kingpins, tie rod ends, shocks, etc are all new. Steering is via a rebuilt (reversed) Corvair box.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION: Performance Automotive Ford 302 crate motor with a mild cam, Weiand intake, new Holly 4bbl, Mallory distributor, and new Sanderson headers and exhaust system complete back to the pencil tips. Transmission is a Ford AOD overdrive.

BRAKES: ’40 Ford up front and ’57 Ford in the rear — all with new shoes and wheel cylinders. New master cylinder was hung on a Kugel 90 degree swing pedal mount behind the dash with access through the cowl vent.

WHEELS & TIRES: The wheels are old school chrome reverse with baby moons. Tires are period-correct, too: Michelin radials upfront, Hurst recap cheater slicks out back.

INTERIOR: Black Ultraleather, trimmed with an eye to providing as much room and comfort as one could expect in a T. Other features include a custom polished aluminum dash insert, Stewart Warner Wings gauges, and a polished stainless steering column.

EXTRAS: New wiring, new battery, new Walker radiator, new aluminum Leonard Speed Equipment gas tank with quick-release cap, new fuel pump and lines, plus many restored parts and components from the original build.

This roadster pick-up is a great old hot rod with just the right updates. It’s a car that’ll power you right into hot rodding’s past — then get you home, too.
