1978 Dodge Chinook Vintage

I am selling a unique, vintage Dodge Chinook Concourse. It has low, original miles (125K) and the engine (318 V8 automatic) runs flawlessly due to meticulous maintenance. This Dodge has spent its entire life in California and is almost 100% rust free (please see the pictures and especially the ones from the under carriage).
The person that owned it for 35 years was a ship captain and took pride in his "onshore" vehicle. The Chinook fiberglass camper is highly sought after and I can assure you that this is one of the best I have ever seen. The paint is usually faded completely off, but the previous owner kept it in a steel building and out of the sun.
The body is straight and clean, the fiberglass is in amazing condition, the paint still looks incredible.
It starts up on a turn of the key, tranny shifts smooth, it passed California emissions and it runs IMPECCABLE. I can't reiterate enough how amazing it runs! The brakes were also replaced recently and are in great working condition (no worries about braking). No cracks in the windshield, no cracks in the dash, newer tires everything appears to work. Caveat: The speedometer jumps and may need to be replaced in the future and I haven't tested the refrigerator, air conditioning unit, sink or bathroom. I was told they all work, but I can't state honestly that I know for sure.
Negatives: Small amount of rust on the side mirrors and the back platform (primarily surface rust).
This is an amazing, unmolested vehicle, but it IS a 38 year-old vehicle, so it is sold AS IS. I will answer any questions, take any additional pictures or even send a HD video of how it starts, drives and brakes! I highly suggest that you either fly out and drive it home or have it inspected. You will be happy with the results either way as I try to describe all the bonuses and faults. I have been an eBay member for over 15 years and have never had a negative feedback. I pride myself on this! Bid with confidence. I only accept cash, a wire transfer or Paypal. If you pay via Paypal you must assume any fees. What the winning bid amount is, is what I need to have after all the fees.
Please only bid if you intend to buy. I try to respect everyone and hope the same is reciprocated to me. I also have this for sale locally and it has gotten some interest because of how unique/rare it is. I retain the right to sell it locally if a reasonable offer comes in. The reserve is low because my association won't allow the Dodge in front of my house, so please ensure you won't have the same problem as me. What good is an Camper Van if your not allowed to have it at your house? On the bright side, this vehicle fits in most parking spaces and is convenient in the following ways:
You can take it in tighter, off road spaces, you can take it to a drive through to get food, you can take it to use a clean restroom (no one has ever used the actual small potty in the vehicle to my knowledge, but it is functional if you have an emergency), the motor is decent on fuel, it is easier to navigate on the interstate and is easy to maintain off the beaten path, at a camp ground, beach or anywhere else. It is much more powerful and reliable than the VW Westfalia campers. Those motors (whether water cooled or air cooled) are garbage and you will have to replace them. They also have no power unless they have the Subaru engine replacements ($10K). This vehicle has plenty of power to travel in the mountains and reach 75 on the interstate...I.E...less dangerous on the roads. I have owned a few class B campers to include a Westfalia, a Chevy Chalet, a Toyota Chinook and this one is tied with the Chalet (400 V8) for the best running vehicles. Most of these vintage vehicles are going for $10-$20K range. Newer campers don't have the vintage appeal and don't even start me on the huge price tags associated with them!
Whether you want this vehicle to leave the grid, be a prepper, prepare for the Walking Dead, surf, camp, live in (Millennials are doing this more and more and it is becoming a nomadic, lifestyle trend to live in campers in big cities to save $$$) or make an investment in a rare, (almost) rust free vehicle: be assured that it fits all of these needs.
I tried to cover everything I could think of and feel free to inquire via email or my phone number 515-661-7277. I am willing to answer any questions. Good luck bidding and have a great day!
Mike
