This car is just amazing. Really. From front to back, nd top to the fully finished and detailed bottom, he car is just amazing!
I had the pleasure of purchasing this car from the gentleman who owned it for many years, nd spent 2 years performing the total restoration on the car in his performance shop here in Florida.
I bought the car about 2 years ago, nd my friend Mike got it from me about a year ago, nd proceeded to put about $15,000 more into in with a complete new engine and powertrain set up, ront disc conversion, ull and complete detail, nd brand spankin’ new 17” wheels and tires!
He drove the car while working on his other show car project so he wouldn’t be without wheels for the Spring/Summer cruising season, ut now he needs to sell it to fund the rest of the show car build while Winter keeps him in the garage.
He took the photos you see, nd sent them to me since the car looks different than when I sold it to him. I attached one photo of it when it was mine so you can see it!
The car started out solid, nd it was a running, riving car in its original Glacier White exterior that was a hit at local car shows. A decision to repaint the car was the catalyst to create the fully restored YENKO tribute the car is today.
The entire car was separated from the chassis, nd every single piece, art, ut, nd washer was removed until it was nothing but a pile of parts.
Decisions were made as to which components were deemed worthy of refurbishment and reuse on the new car, hile those which didn’t pass muster were used to order NOS replacements for the build.
The body was incredibly straight and clean, s were the floors, nd you can see that in the restoration photos below. Some metal work was required to get the car in top condition, ut it is minimal, nd was professionally performed leaving no signs of replacement.
The body is incredibly straight and smooth, nd great care was taken to make sure that all gaps were even, ll hinges aligned properly, nd all other fit and finish issues were addressed prior to handing the car over to be painted.
The car was carefully blocked, one over, nd prepped before three coats of DuPont GM HUGGER ORANGE were carefully sprayed on, hen it was allowed to dry and prepped for 2 coats of DuPont 74500 clear with 14305S hardener.
After drying, he finish was then lovingly hand-sanded and buffed to perfection, nd it looks absolutely magnificent, s you can see in the 100 EXTRA-LARGE photos below.
I am sure that you could find a small blemish, ark, hip, r something on the cars painted surface if you start crawling around on your hands and knees, ut a careful walk around of the car reveals no dents, ings, cratches, crapes, r damage of any kind. Perfect is a word that gets tossed around on eBay like a football on Thanksgiving, nd no car is ever perfect, ut this one really comes close!
The underside of the car was sprayed as well, nd it shows just as nice, ith clean paint, nd even a finish sand and buff on it as well!
The entire chassis was stripped, oated in rust-preventative, nd treated to chassis black before all of the new or refurbished suspension bits were installed again.
Everything on the chassis got new hardware, ew bushings, earings, nner/outer tie rods, all joints, nsulators, nd more.
Front brakes were converted over to new STREET BANDIT disc units from NPD, ho also supplied the new booster and proportioning system. The rear drum units were completely rebuilt as well, nd everything got all new lines and fittings before being adjusted to perfection. The car stops perfectly, nd doesn’t have any abnormal wander, ade, r pulling under heavy braking.
Steering is tight, mooth, nd easy, nd the car tracks as straight as an arrow going down the highway.
The GM 10 bolt POSI rear was opened, leaned, nspected, nd fit with 3.73 gears for a mix of highway and back road manners before being bolted back in place.
Every corner got new shocks and mounts, nd the ride is soft enough to make Sunday rides comfortable, ut firm enough to let you have a little fun too.
There are no suspension squeaks or rattles evident when driving the car.
The gas tank and all of the fuel lines are new, s is about 85% of the hardware on the chassis.
It is worthy of being put on a stand with mirrors underneath when you show it, nd is a truly stunning chassis job.
Back up top, ractically all of the bright work, rim, nd chrome was either redone, eplaced, r refurbished to like-new status, nd it still shows that way from every angle.
The Chevelle emblems, ENKO emblems, M badging, 27 badging, nd grill badging are all in exceptional condition.
Grill itself shows like new, s does the headlamp trim, ail lamp surrounds, nd rear cover trim and badging.
The chrome trim on the steel cowl hood looks like new as well.
All of the YENKO striping on the car is in exceptional condition, as been carefully installed to avoid bubbles and issues, nd has no tears or damage whatsoever.
Chrome mirrors, indow trim surround, nd door handles all look fantastic, nd show no damage or disrepair either.
The glass on the car is in exceptional condition, nd has no chips, racks, aminate issues, r damage.
All of the windows roll up and down with ease on new felts and regulators.
A YENKO metal plate frame out back completes the look, s does the correct YENKO drivers side back window decal.
Overall, he outside of the car is 9.5 out of 10.0, nd it is 100% ready to show on a National or Regional level right now.
The chassis is a solid 9.5 out of 10.0, nd basically needs to be pressure washed to get the light road grime off of it to be a 9.9 (nothing is perfect!).
Open the trunk and you are met by stunningly clean floor, ull size spare with tire (not much tread, ut it’s a spare, ight?), ew trunk seal, nd correct POSI and JACK stickers in place.
It looks like new, nd other than the balding tread on the spare, ould pass for a time machine back to 1969!
Open the hood, nd you are met with an exceptionally clean engine bay, rom the new radiator with chrome top panel back to the cleaned and painted firewall. It shows incredibly well, nd is as clean as you would expect a freshly built car to be.
Mike took out the LT4 motor that was in the car when I had it, ecause he wanted more raw power, nd had a BRAND NEW 383ci Stroker motor built and installed.
The block is a 4-bolt main that was cleaned, agnafluxed, nd aligned honed, ored .040 over to 385CID. It was plate honed, ad new rings, am bearings, reeze plugs, crew in oil plugs, nd a clearance double roller chain installed, nd was decked .008 as well.
The rotating assembly consists of and Eagle forged steel stroker crank, agle I-Beam rods with ARP cap screws, peed Pro 4040 flat top hypertectic pistons with 2 valve reliefs, oly coated skirts, loating pins, ower crank dampener, nd king pin and rod bearings.
The cam is a Speed Pro CS186R hydraulic flat tappet unit ADV duration 284/284, uration at .050 is 230/230 at valve 481/481 with 1.5 rocker. Lobe displacement angle is 110 degrees, ntake center line is 106 degrees.
Delphi GM lifters, omp cam bolt locking plate, nd double roller timing chain were installed.
Melling supplied the high volume oil pump with steel sleeve shaft and welded pickup.
Heads are casting #462 Fuelie 1967 with new valve guides, tainless valves, angle seats, uide bosses cut to .500, iton seals, omp roller stamped rocker arms and new screw in studs. Spring pressure is 105lbs @1.700”
FelPro gaskets, astings moly rings, 83 valve covers, ummit Pro mini-starter, istributer, ccel plug wires, 8” flex fan, 0qt oil cap., ainted and finished in Chevy orange.
MARCH PERFROMANCE was tapped for a complete serpentine belt system with polished brackets and pulley system.
Dyno tested results on this motor are 468hp at 5,800 rpm, nd 493 FT lbs torque @4300 rpm.
Wiring is clean and logically done, ith no shortcuts or “backyard” ingenuity.
All lines and hoses throughout were new to the build, nd all of it is in exceptional condition.
The motor gets power to the aforementioned 10-Bolt via a completely custom built TH400 which was rebuilt from the case in with all new HD race clutches and Steels, lue-printed high flow front pump, reverse manual valve body, D sprag assembly w/steel drum, D clutch hub, W Bellhousing and HD input and intermediate shafts. IT also has a 3,500 stall converter installed with an Anti-Balloon plate.
It takes the almost 500hp coming from the motor and gets it to the rear end with zero issues or complaints.
It can drive as mild mannered as you want it thanks to the 3500rpm stall, ut when you want to jam through the gears, t can take everything the car has and more! The transmission was built to 700hp specifications, nd is practically bulletproof!
The car is a MONSTER when you want it to be, nd it runs through the gears like it was made for the strip when you manhandle it, ut can still cruise you on the boulevard without any problems.
The car is set up and was dyno tested to run on PUMP GAS 97 octane. It was in, nd continues to be, n a street tune, ut has more than enough capability for higher numbers with some racing fuel and tuning adjustments.
It is currently set up so you can drive it around daily without having to constantly adjust things when you want some solid power from the pedal, aking it a PERFECT tune for someone who is not a mechanic and just wants to drive and enjoy the car.
If you like to tinker with things, am sure that HP ratings MUCH higher are probably attainable, ith corresponding torque ratings to match. The parts and build out on the powertrain were selected to handle it.
There are no leaks, eeping fluids, dd sounds, r known issues with the powertrain at this time, nd it performs wonderfully.
Idle is clean and lopey, nd it sounds fantastic through the custom exhaust system.
It does NOT run hot, nd Mike tells me it as docile as you want it to be for around town driving, ut ready to ROCK when the green light flashes!
Overall, he engine bay and powertrain on the car is a rock solid 10 out of 10.0, ecause it runs, ooks, nd performs like the freshly built machine it is.
Last but not least, et’s check out the stunning interior on this machine!
Opening the doors reveals an interior that is equal parts original and restored/NOS, ith a clean and stock appearance throughout.
Door panels, ick panels, ide panels, nd pillar panels are all in exceptional condition, nd show wonderfully.
Door pulls and window rollers are original to the car, nd still show incredibly well.
Dash is clean, eat, nd damage free, nd is fit with the 120mph speedo on the left of the gauge pod with warning lights in the 2nd pod for FUEL, EN, EMP, nd OIL. A gear selection panel completes the gauge area, nd works as it should.
Light and wiper switches are stock and clean, nd the lights function in PARK, I, nd LOW beam settings. Wipers work as they should, ut washer does not.
The factory radio has been replaced by a retro looking unit from CLASSIC CAR STEREOS with an AM/FM digital tuner and iPod hookup plug. It sounds great through the new 140 watt DVC dash speaker, hich was used to avoid cutting any other speaker holes in the car.
Glove compartment opens and reveals a clean liner on the inside, ith an iPod/mp3 plug for the stereo system.
Cigar lighter unit is intact, nd the dash lights are functional as well.
Ashtray area is original and the inside shows light patina from the cars 44 years of use. I can’t honestly say if the car was smoked in or not over the past four decades, ut it has NOT been smoked in since restoration, nd the car has ZERO odors or smells of any kind. It has also been PET FREE since completion.
Seats are in exceptional condition front and back, nd show to be clean and free of any tears, tains, eam pulls, r damage.
Same can be said of the carpet, hich shows very light signs of normal use, nd can probably clean up even nicer when you have the car professionally detailed.
Headliner is also clean and damage free, nd looks fantastic in the car.
Dome light works, nd the optional shoulder belts hang from the roof mounts.
The center console is clean and solid, nd has only light patina to show from its 44 odd years of use. The dual-gate shift functions perfectly, nd has positive engagement in all selection spots. Console lid opens and closes as it should, nd the storage compartment is clean and functional.
Issues on the inside? It needs a good detail in all the little nooks and crannies, nd could use a new decal for the heat/vent control panel to make it perfect.
Overall, he car has an interior that combines original, estored, nd new components together to present as a solid 9.00 out of 10.00. It is clean, olid, nd damage free, nd will look even nicer when you have a chance to professionally detail the car.
I have personally driven this car about 150 miles prior to Mike buying it from me, n a mix of highway and in-town situations, nd I found it to be a remarkably well-mannered and smile-inducing machine to drive.
Mike is a gearhead like no one else I know, nd he tells me the new powertrain upgrades will induce panic in passengers and thrill bystanders! There are NO known mechanical, perational, unctional, lectrical, r operational issues that he or I is aware of other than what has been disclosed in the listing above.
