1978 Chevrolet Corvette

This auction is for Pace Car #4007. This car was bought by me in 2018 from a local lady who was moving out of state and didn't want to haul the car as it 'had issues'. Basically the rear brakes were leaking fluid, the GEN light was constantly on, the seats were split, the horn didn't work and neither did the main beam switch and the speedometer only worked occasionally like the door locks. Winter of 2018/19 I started work on the brakes and found transmission fluid and engine oil on the garage floor, this car certainly had issues! As a new aluminum radiator and electric fans had already been installed, the emission system removed, a non-standard exhaust system fitted and the original blue T tops replaced there seemed to be little point in rebuilding the old, leaking brake callipers so I replaced them with Wilwood units and a new master cylinder. Working on the rears I also rebuilt the handbrake or e-brake and replaced the stretched cable too.Replacing the alternator fixed the GEN warning light and now at last I could drive the car. It always starts and runs greatwith 40 psi oil pressure at around 2500 rpm. Engine/transmission leaks I hate and I don't have the facilities for repair at home so off it went for a $2000 rebuild of the transmission, replacement engine mounts & U joints, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket and engine rear main seal - money well spent! Now it was on to the interior with new leather seat cushions, new carpet throughout, new quartz clock and a 'new' speedometer - the old one registered 40,954 and the new one 40,064 miles. The bodywork is 'OK' for a car of this age and mileage. It has certainly been painted at least once in its life although maybe not the hood? The rest of the paintwork polishes up fine but there is gravel rash around 3 of the 4 wheel arches or fenders. The black paint is not perfect and has several areas of small lumps or spots mostly on the front fenders which I understand could be from poor surface preparation during the respray. Paint on the front spoiler has blistered indicating new paint without prep. I found no accident repairs during inspection and no cracks in the bodywork other than normal surface cracks in the paint/gel coat. Early on in its life the car was fully undersealed. Original spare tire (holding air) and lock included. My time with this car though is now at end. I never got around to trying the cruise control or fixing the horn or the main beam headlights, nor the broken S spring on the drivers door which is annoying but the main jobs are done and I'm happy with the result.Included with the car but may have to be shipped separately depending on vehicle shipper will be:Door 'S' hinge & fitting toolNew hood decal with fitting instructions.Original door 'Pace Car' decals x2.Original rear fender 'Indy' decals x2.Microphone for CB radio.Original faulty speedometer.Center rear storage box - no longer fits because of the battery isolator!Flannel indoor car cover. The car was delivered on 05/25/1978 to 49ER Chevrolet Inc, Main St, Angels Camp, CA 95222 and is now situated in Idaho. I have contact to vehicle transporters if you need quotes and I will certainly assist in ensuring safe passage. If you are able to inspect in person I will meet you in Lewiston, ID.
