1964 CORVAIR MONZA 900 CONVERTIBLE

LAST YEAR OF THE FIRST GENERATION CORVAIRS

Up for auction is this very clean, solid and reliable example of the collectable CORVAIR MONZA 900 CONVERTIBLE. This classic has been loved, cared for and restored to include, but not limited to, new and/or restored parts.

There is no reason why you couldn’t take this beautiful 1964 MONZA to any local or regional car show and show it with pride. This classic is not perfect, but it is a very presentable and a great driver.

It is hard to believe this is a 54-year-old car. You would never know by looking at. This little beauty is ready for a new home. Just get in and drive.

This little red beauty has recently had all fluids replaced, an ignition tune-up, new plugs and wires, new battery, the carbs were synced, the tires have only 400 miles and come with a warranty. The gas tank is almost full and she’s ready for any road trip with no excuses.

This car is clean, straight and has no apparent rust issues. All lights inside and out work, all gages work, the horn, wipers, lighter, and the radio works. Also included are near new heavy-duty rubber “Bow Tie” front floor mats. There is an alarm mounted in the trunk which needs to be wired to a power switch.

The engine starts easy and idles strong and smooth. The manual transmission shifts smooth and quiet. This classic convertible runs straight and true down the road with no funny noises or smoke. She stops quickly, quietly and with no pulls.

All the glass is exceptional, and the windows roll up and down easily. The chrome bumpers are very nice with a high shine. The seats are very nice as is the carpet, the spare is good and there is a jack and owners’ manual. Seat belts are installed. The top is damage free on the exterior but will require a new vinyl rear window. The rear window section is a removable section and can be unzipped and removed for an easy repair.

WHAT MAKES A CLASSIC A COLLECTIBLE AMONG COLLECTORS?IT’S SIMPLE. IF THE CAR IS THE “FIRST” OF,OR A “LAST” OF, IT’S A MUST HAVE. The 1964CORVAIR was the LAST YEAR of production for the FIRST-GENERATION MODELS.

For 1964, significant engineering changes occurred, while the model lineup and styling remained relatively unchanged. The engine displacement was increased from 145 to 164cuin (2.4 to 2.7L) by an increase in stroke. The engine power increased from 95 to 110HP.

Also, in 1964, an improvement in the car's swing axle rear suspension occurred with the addition of a transverse leaf spring along with softer rear coil springs designed to diminish rear roll stiffness and foster more neutral handling. Spring rates could now be softer at both ends of the car compared to previous models. The heavy-duty suspension was no longer optional, although all models now had a front antiroll bar as standard. Brakes were improved with finned rear drums.
