1968 Chevrolet Camaro Rally Sport RS

Brutally fast, this 1968 Camaro rocks a stroked small block, a built automatic, lots of chrome, and a black on gray paint job that will never go out of fashion. Cars like these attract all the attention at Friday night cruise nights and dominate the drag strips on Sunday afternoons. Isn't it time you got in on the fun? Built to enjoy or show, featuring electric cut-outs, subframe connectors and a blistering 383 CI stroker, this is one to keep.

THE BODY

The car is rust free, and as you can see, each panel has been painstakingly worked to assure it is laser straight. The paint is a beautiful charcoal gray with black stripes. Look at the pictures and hopefully they will give you an idea of the quality of workmanship that went into this incredible restoration.

The driver side mirror is not on in a couple of pictures, but is on now.

The framework and suspension items were all powder coated during the restoration and still look new. Hotchkiss suspension was added to the car, along with Willwood front disc and drum rear. The car will stop on a dime. The suspension system was upgraded as well and the car is as tight to drive as modern vehicles and handles like a dream. There is no 60-70s GM sloppy feeling with this car. The wheels are Boyd Coddington custom wheels that were powder coated to match the color of the car, they are 17s up front and 18s on the rear. The grill is billet aluminum and the headlight doors have been converted to an electrical system, no more worries about the dreaded GM vacuum problems.

The car has been restored to a high level, yet it is driven only on nice days after a hand wash.

THE INTERIOR

The interior of the car was done to maintain a traditional look, but with numerous upgrades added. The upholstery is the traditional houndstooth fabric, but the standard vinyl trim was upgraded to high grade leather for a more comfortable ride and to keep with the level of restoration done on the rest of the car. Tilt steering was added, and AC added. The AC was charged less than 6 months ago and works great. Full gauges have been added, there is a switch on the dash that looks factory, but is actually what operates the electrical cut outs off the header system. When you open the exhaust up, the car sounds amazing and gets lots of looks from anyone around. The stereo system has been upgraded and sounds great, am/fm/cd. Crank up the stereo, hit the AC and ride in comfort, and expect a ton of thumbs up and a crowd around you when you pull into the cruise night.

THE ENGINE

The Camaro is powered by the Chevrolet 383/425 HP Stroker engine. Exhaust is through Holly Custom Headers with electrical cut outs, and flowmaster exhaust. MSD ignition fires the engine and it starts on first turn of the key. The engine is kept cool with a Be Cool Radiator system and dual fans, which keeps the engine running cool. The transmission had been built well to handle the power of this engine, and shifts perfectly, even under load. The entire drivetrain has been so well designed that the car, while powerful, is also a fun to drive and makes the transition from an easy street cruiser to pure out and out muscle car by simply pressing the gas pedal. Miles on the car after full restoration is approx. 5500.
