Super clean and very original 1977 Corvette. Finished in Corvette Black with Black Cloth/Leather Interior. This interior was correct and original fr 1977 butlikely a special order deal as 1977 was the first year that leather interior became standard but this cloth and leather combination could have been ordered. We purchased the corvette from a man in Georgia that had the car since March of 2009 at when then the miles was 21,218. The car is an original un-restored survivor car with many original componentsincluding engine and drive-train as well as the original exhaust system and catalytic converter. The mufflers still have numbers on them but are showing some small holes at the front.I do have a set of correct new reproduction mufflers that are included and have not installed as we are trying to still keep the car as original as possible. The body is original untouched and the overall fit of the doors, hood, headlights is nice. Everything works on the car including the clock. Headlights go up and down with ease, all gauges work, radio works, rear defogger works, cruise control works, just a car that has never really been messed with. The air conditioning has been converted to R-134 and a new compressor was installed. This was done about a year ago. The window glass is all original in excellent condition as well as the weatherstripping on the car. No scratches or chips on the glass. Original rear optional defogger glass as well. Nicely preserved overall. You can definitely tell the car was kept inside and out of the weather. You can also tell by looking underneath that the car was not driven in in-climate weather. The frame is excellent. Some markings and inspections are still visible.
The interior on this car is as good as it gets. I would rate the condition at #1. Very impressive, crisp, and clean in everyway. Just look at some of the photos of the instrument needles. They are as orange and crisp as they come! And that is original untouched. The door panels have no flaws, the dash pad has no flaws, the seats are near perfect with no wear, the carpet has no holes, wear or flaws as well, the floor mats are the originals as the binding around them is unique and the reproduction ones you by today are not like these at all, the seat belts are excellent and even the passenger side belt still has the plastic tag on how to adjust, (I had never seen a tag like that before), the rear compartment is nice with the original jack and lug wrench still intact, original t-top storage bags and t-top strap is still in the car, sunvisors, rearview mirror, all are excellent. The steering wheel leather is excellent no fading or cracking and not that collapsed feel as most get from age, I cannot stress enough just how nice this original interior is. I have had many of these models over the years and this interior looks as good with one that had 10 miles on it! Just super nice and well preserved.
The engine compartment still looks nice and fresh. The car was born as an L-48 car and has had the L-82 style valve covers and chrome air cleaner lid added. I do have those items that are original in great condition and do go with the car. The engine bay is clean, paint still on the engine block, labels on many of the hoses, fan shroud area very clean, master cylinder and brake booster still have that nice gold cad like original finish, original air cleaner assembly, nice and virtually untouched with little to no corrosion. Better than 95% of these cars for sale out there. The chassis is about the same as the engine bay. Clean and untouched with little to no corrosion only showing minimal surface rusting on some of the raw steel parts but no pitting. Kept in a dry environment from what I can tell. The spare tire compartment and intact with an original rally wheel but the tire is a replacement one. The spare tire lock is still on the assembly.
As stated this is a survivor un-restored original car with the original paint. The paint shows good and has a nice shine but it has some "checking" as many do over the age. After all it is 40 years old. The flaws are mostly visible around the headlight areas and are most noticeable inside under lights. Outside the car looks good. There really is minimal chips that I can see overall. The front and rear bumpers are the original urethane ones and are excellent with no stress cracks or even any real fading inside or outside in the light. Usually the bumpers on these cars are fading where you really can notice that but not on this one. A black car is not forgiving and will show every little flaw as to where a light colored corvette you have to really look to notice. I personally would probably not do anything to the paint as it is presentable and nothing to be ashamed of and after all they are only original once. The car has had the L-82 emblems added and from what I have been told they were put on by the original owner. The wheels on the car are the optional original aluminum ones in good shape with the right front showing one small scuff mark. Overall nice. The tires are all matched with plenty of tread left and they are GoodYear Eagle ST size P225/70R15. The rocker moldings are real nice as well as the door handles, tail lights, parking light grill assemblies and the gas door lid screws and original gas cap are all in very good condition. Original unleaded fuel only label still on gas door lid. Original license plate hardware, etc.
Most people are unaware that the black exterior color was available in 1977 for the first time since 1969. From 1970 through 1976 the exterior color of black was not listed as a colorchoice for all of those years. This corvette with the unique black cloth and leather combination makes it a rare one.
The car drives as good as it looks. When you get behind the wheel and drive this car you know right away that the miles are real. Super tight and drives like a new 77 model Seats are not collapsed, they feel nice and firm, steering is nice and tight, choke on carburetor still operates, just an overall nice example of an original 77 model. Runs out smoothly and transmission shifts like it should. I would not be afraid to get into this corvette and take a road trip.
This Corvettes was originally sold new at Schoner Chevrolet in Hartville Ohio.

KEY FEATURES TO THE 1977 MODEL CORVETTE:
Last year for the straight back window as in 1978 came with the larger rear window glass.Last year to see the 160 MPH speedometer in a Corvette as they went to 140 in 1978.Deluxe Leather Interior became standard in 1977 as previous years was an option. This was also the last year for much of the interior to look like the earlier 70's models as in 1978 alot of changes took place.Last year for the full size spare tire and wheel. 1978 models were more of a space saver.A new console held heater and air conditioning controls and accepted standard Delco radio due to its increased depth. A newsteering column positioned the steering wheel two inches closer to the instrument panel to provide more of an "arms out" drivingposition, and easier entry and exit.Later in the production year as this corvette was built the alarm activator was moved from the driver-side fender to the driver-sidedoor lock.Between August 23 and September 7, 1976, Flint Engine changed from orange paint to blue for Corvette engines. The headlight dimmer and windshield wiper/washer controls were located on steering column stalks. Sunshades were redesignedto permit swinging to the side windows. The interior rearview mirror mounting point was relocated from above the windshield to thewindshield itself. The outside windshield trim was painted black due to sun glare as in the previous years.
We do have some documentation with the car including the window sticker, dealer invoice, odometer statement, copy ofprevious Ohio title, owners manual, sales brochure, several brochures that were originally in the car including the freedombattery brochure, 1977 maintenance schedule, consumer information brochure, and some of the original vin stickers thatwould have been used back in the day of ever went in for warranty work. I also have copies of the Georgia registrationinformation as any classic vehicles 25 years or older do not have titles in the state of Georgia but simply registration papers. When we bought the car we did get a Missouri vehicle inspection and did get an actual title back in our name with the mileson the car. Before the car was in Georgia it was in Ohio and I have a copy of that title.
